This whole year watching Scoe's stats at UNLV, I couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like to have him with the team this season. Of all the transfers in 2012, his stung the most. I'm not sure if he would have transferred if he knew KO would be taking the helm later in September of that year. I really think he would have thrived under Ollie. Mind you, I'm not complaining about how things turned out this year, but certainly wish he could have been part of the group of seniors that won bookend national championships. At the same time, it really makes your appreciate Bazz, Boat, Dre, Niels, and Olander for having faith in the program and delivering the way they did. Losing Roscoe may have just simply been a case of addition by subtraction after all.

Anyhow, I found this article from the Baltimore Sun http://articles.baltimoresun.com/20...40407_1_roscoe-smith-kelvin-bridgers-walbrook. Anybody else aware if he had a comment about the National Championship he missed out on while languishing at UNLV?

BTW, he declared for this year's draft, he had a good rebounding year for a bad team - any thoughts on where he'll go?

The young man owed us nothing beyond what he gave us and I wish him nothing but the best and thank him for his contributions while he was here. Having said that, it is highly unlikely we win a championship with him staying. That would have meant either that he fought Daniels for minutes at the 4, slowing Daniels' development, or that either he or Daniels played the 3, which would have meant less minutes for Giffey and Kromah over the year and thus less 3 point shooting, energy and perimeter defensive pressure. And that's even before you get into the chemistry issues of someone not getting enough minutes (or Kromah never coming here in the first place).

We won a championship. It is highly unlikely that you could have changed anything about this team and still have it come out as well as it did.

Roscoe is a better player than Kromah and I believe he could bring everything LK does and a little more.. but he chose to leave and I'm happy that LK made a big contribution (especially against UK) and got his chance to cut down the nets.

I don't think Kromah comes if Roscoe is here. Roscoe got some bad advice. He still ended up having to sit out a year and UNLV did not work out for him at all.

The more interesting "what if" is Enosch Wolf. We definitely missed him early in the year, and I think this team would have been a very tough team to stop offensively if Wolf had not left. My gut is he would have taken minutes from Nolan and relegated Olander to garbage time.

I know there's the debate over how DeAndre and Roscoe would've coexisted, but given that Phil really isn't all that bigger and certainly not better(no disrespect to Phil) I would've just rolled with a small ball lineup of DeAndre and Roscoe up front. Not sure how he would've taken it given Amin Elhassan of ESPN said KO told him Roscoe didn't want to embrace the role of being a stretch 4 but imo that would've been a great lineup while still working in Phil and Amdia off the bench.

Having Roscoe or anyone else doesn't guarantee we win a Championship. I'd like to believe this is the only collection of players that could have pulled off a 2014 Championship.

I want to credit only this team and coaches, no one else and no 'ifs'. They deserve that.

Well if you want someone worth keeping in your thoughts today Pat Lenehan caught a glass bottle with his face last night after girls won.

When looking back on a situation where you've experienced the best possible outcome. Wondering what might have been if certain circumstances were changed is about as big a waste of time as I can imagine.

I don't know what's going on in your life, but being a sports fan and watching/posting on this board is a big, yet one of my favorite, wastes of time. Thoughts are thoughts when it comes to this stuff and I don't think a post on how great this year was or how we're doomed is a beneficial use of time. If this is not a topic in which you have interest, don't waste your time reading it, thinking about it, or posting about it.

We ARE the National Champs. With, or without Roscoe, and/or Enosh, it doesn't matter. We won it all without them. Would we have won it all with them? Who knows, but it's a moot issue today as we all celebrate.

I also think Wolf was ready for a big jump in skill after another year with Miller. He was an athletic 7 footer with great hands and a soft touch. Wolf was squishy on defense, but Brimah and Nolan are not lock down defenders yet either.

I know bizarro posting is your thing but Wolf was not athletic. Brimah is an athletic 7 footer(if we are to go by his listed height, which he is likely not), there is a pretty clear difference in athleticism between Brimah and Wolf.

For a 7 foot college player, Wolf was reasonably athletic. No one is putting him on the fast track to the NBA, but he could move around and had good body control.

Can we officially make this the lost thread in which we discuss the merits of Roscoe's departure and his subsequent year at UNLV.

Please?

I can't help thinking of how this great team and chemistry would have been ruined by someone like Roscoe being here rather than the player who's scholarship replaced 'Scoes and helped us achieve greatness. We won the National Championship and Scoe left unlike Giff, Deandre, Boat, Tyler and of course Bazz…………

Roscoe does not deserve a thread here - this is a champions Boneyard not a defectors!!

It happens guys transfer all the time, we don't know all the reasons why he transferred. Just enjoy this championship theres no need to be mad at a college kid transferring. I will always be grateful to Roscoe helping us win a championship in 2011 just like I will always be grateful to Plaxico for helping the Giants win a Super Bowl in 07 despite shooting himself the next year.

We're talking about Enosh here yes? I am not sure he sees much more playing than TO did. He is not as skilled as you give him credit for. I don't know the answer , but what did he do this year in Europe.

I wish he had stayed and "stayed" a Huskie- he could have enjoyed bookend NCs and been part of the family. I liked the kid and wish him nothing but the best.

If Roscoe stays, it's probably Tolksdorf we don't bring in. Tolksdorf never played so it's hard to believe the team wouldn't have been improved. Roscoe was a fine teammate and great for chemistry as a freshman. I have to believe he would have been good for chemistry under Ollie's leadership.

It's speculation to say he would have slowed Daniels's development. He might have spurred it, giving Daniels a tough competitor in practice and a rival for minutes.

But as you say, we couldn't do any better than we did. What we had without Scoe proved to be enough.
