A genuinely incredible tournament performance. Remember when his reputation was he lacked focus, soft, low BBIQ when he left Michigan? THIS is what happens when a kid dives in headfirst and gives 100% to getting better under this staff.

Absurd performance, and the only reason we were inches from an NC this year. He had an all-time tournament performance, not just an all-time UConn tournament performance. That should be discussed more. I hope he played his way into some NBA $ - who wouldn't want a guy like him or Karaban in their locker room?

Tarris was a machine from Game 1 to Game 6 in this post-season.

Can you imagine the talking heads if Cam Boozer had a 31 point - 27 rebound performance in this tourney? They would be drooling over him more then they already were. That was an all-time game from Tarris that propelled this team on their tourney run.

What makes this exceptional Tourney resonate even more with me. Is by his own admission/words-He apparently was very close to entering the portal after his first year at UConn. Amazing fortitude/guts/self-belief and a strong Mom to redirect his energies towards an outstanding senior year. Took it to another level after BET .Wish him the best at the next level.

Watching Tarris grow and step up and blossom into a dominant top of the nation big was an absolute joy. It's journeys like that that make this sport so much fun. So proud of him, what an excellent young man with a bright future.

Monster work from TR during postseason. Work on a face up jumper and you will have a long career.

Tarris is a player that shows the best parts of NIL Portal and the worst parts. Without the portal, it's very unlikely he ever puts on a UConn jersey. With the portal, we were blessed with him for two years...but unfortunate that we won't get get a 3rd year with him.

I found that one of the ways this team has brought joy by keeping on winning, and particularily his huge contributions, was that we got to see more of who Tarris is through postgames/interviews. What a beautiful person, and such an asset to our program.

The side effect of Hurley's personel choices, and the subsequent maniacal accountability standards is that we get to root for absolute gems of humans.

Reed, Solo, AK, Silas, Braylon, Ross, etc. these guys are going to crush whatever they choose to do in life and positively impact the communities they end up in.

I'm over the reffing nonsense, and now am just thinking of these dudes. (And hoping we get Silas and Mullins back)

Doesn’t this show other talented big men what they could achieve under Hurley at UConn? Maybe we get another potential star to work with?
Exactly. Improve your draft stock at UConn

What big wouldn't want to transfer to UConn after seeing the success/development of Adama, Clingan, and now Tarris.

We're always billed as a school with a long tradition of elite guards. Hurley and staff have now done the same for bigs.

He did something like a Pokémon evolution late in his college career. Leveled up across the board but the improvements in passing vision, free throws and some extra moves under the basket were amazing.

I'm 100% sure we're going to pursue an uber-talented big in the portal. This board doesn't like to hear it, but Reibe hasn't shown he's got starter talent in months. Probably not a guy like Bidunga, but some high potential guy like Tarris who needs a fire lit under his bum. Our staff isn't going to overpay on NIL resources like other programs.

Here’s the thing about Reibe — he did show that potential in the OOC part of the schedule when Reed was hurt and then coming off injury. He showed he was already a competent offensive player with good understanding, hands and touch from inside. Yes, he needed a year in the weight room to defend and rebound at the level we need, but there was no reason to think he couldn’t get there. And then, as his minutes were reduced as Reed got healthy and stayed out of foul trouble for the most part, his play fell off a cliff.

The staff has a pretty good idea whether he will be ready to be a #1 center for a team at our level next year, or whether he’s still a back up or someone who would share time with someone else. We don’t. We saw the potential and aren’t sure why he fell off a cliff. We’re just going to have to see.

Whether or not the staff thinks he’s a starting center next year and whether BM goes pro or not are the two questions that have to be answered before we know how to allocate our player budget for next year.

Reibe had plenty of opportunities to prove he deserved more minutes late in the season but wasn't able to step up. He was ok but not good enough to take minutes from Reed. He will get more opportunity next year if he decides to stay. But whether he takes advantage remains to be seen. Considering the leap that Reed took this year, I am hopefully Reibe can do the same. He is a different type of player but definitely has potential. Good hands, good finisher. Needs to improve free throws and defense. Like Tarris last year, needs to learn how to defend without fouling so he can stay on the court. We don't even need him to score necessarily but we need him to rebound and protect the rim.

We also just need someone who can catch lobs, even just in change of pace situations. It really hurt the offense's ability to get to the rim because they could commit and recover much easier with both Reed and Reibe than with Clingan or Johnson.

You can have a meaningful big be below the rim (Sanogo and Reed), but the team needs different looks from the bench, and we weren't getting that. We couldn't really go five out, and we couldn't cause much confusion in PnRs, particularly in drop.

Tbh we also need players that can throw a lob as well

Part of the issue is our front court personnel not seeing the opening, and another part is the front court's inability to create the opening with their lack in ability of driving to the basket. Reibe was certainly a lob threat if he could stay on the floor and our Guards were more proficient in finding him. Samson's number of lobs seem to decrease dramatically last year, to the point where Samson complained behind closed doors and Hurley broadcasted the issue publicly to light the fire under the frontcourt.

Tarris's success is a testament to the hard work he put in, the belief Coach Hurley and the staff had in him, and his faith. Tarris will always be remembered as a man who gave the glory to , and I highly respect this aspect of his character and share his faith perspective as well. We truly saw a different version of him many times this year- but especially in the post season. That was on a different level. You could see it in his eyes, in his body language and it was an exciting thing to behold. I will always be grateful for Tarris Reed Jr. choosing to come to UConn, for the contributions he made to the program, and for his high level of character.

I hear you. But on the other hand we had two of our best seasons ever (23 and 26) with a below the rim big. I think it's fair to say it isn't a requirement in our system even if it's nice to have.

We had an above the rim big off the bench in 23 that created a major advantage in the 13 minutes he played.

Can longer edit from my phone but Intended backcourt in my post.

Tarris will always be remembered as a man who gave the glory to Messiah Yeshua (I typed the more common anglicized version of His name which Tarris uses in my post above, but it was deleted) and I highly respect this aspect of his character and share his faith perspective as well

I'm so proud of him and he's now in that group of truly memorable Huskies.

It speaks to his hard work and how incredible this staff is, especially with big men.

His dad made a point of saying the coaching and overall experience at UConn compared to Michigan was night and day.
