As a player, all you can do is go out and play your hardest. I'm sure they like the conference changes as much as any of the fans.
As a fan you go to the game and you get loud. If people turn on the TV and see empty seats they won't see a protest - they'll see a fickle and disinterested fan base and while there may be good reason to be pissed off, it doesn't help sell the university to any prospective conference.
