Don't you think that they're aware of how bad that makes them look?
Especially when the NET criteria points to UConn deserving of a #1 seed this year.
If UConn were on the bubble this year then I could understand that previous years #1 seed selections wouldn't matter very much to this year's committee.
But I'll bet that the committee is well aware of their collective NCAA history regarding UConn's previous seeds and how they've managed to make it to the FF year after year despite not being a #1.
I think that the committee's past history can indeed have an influence on the present committee to try "Extra, extra, read all about it!" hard to do their best.
They need to be concerned about the public's perception of fairness from a historical perspective.
