Thought this would be a fun general baseball question for fans of all teams to discuss.

Entering August, the Pale Hose are at .243, which projects to 39.3 wins. The '62 Mets finished 40-120 .250 (and likely could easily have lost the two cancelled games) to become the worst team in the post-expansion era.

The Sox pretty much sold off everyone they could, save Crochet and Roberts. We've seen teams threaten the Mets mark a few times, but all have manged to avoid becoming the new worst.

So what do you BY baseball fans think? Yea or No?

(and no posts about the Cleveland Spiders, Philly Athletics or St. Louis Browns please, they're all pre-expansion)

Ouch for Yankees fans who saw their team get crushed 10-2 in the heat of an AL East regular season championship chase to the lowly Sox last night to give them their 39th win. Show some pride and win the series at least NYY!

31-109 as of tonight.

They'd need to go 10-12 rest of the way to avoid being worse than the '62 Mets.

Away:
1 vs Orioles
3 vs Red Sox
3 vs Angels
3 vs Padres
3 vs Tigers

Home:
3 vs Guardians
3 vs A's
3 vs Angels

I think it's a done deal that Marv Throneberry, et.al. will soon be off the hook.

As a Mets fan, I just watched them play 4 times this weekend.

a) Someone mentioned that a Met from the 1962 team was quoted saying he hoped they didn't break the record because he wouldn't wish that label on anyone. I thought that was pretty solid.

b) They seem like a decent group of guys. They played hard. Body language wouldn't lead you to believe their record was bad at all. They just seemed to make an error at the wrong time. Miss a cutoff. Get picked off. Passed ball. Those little things that just spike up at the wrong time and kill you.

I hope they don't break the record. I'll continue to carry the yoke with that '62 team. That said? Ugh. I do think they're going to break it.

32-111

9-10 needed to AVOID surpassing 120 losses, which is the most ever in modern times (and honestly the 1899 spiders shouldn't even count, so ever).

White Sox are not cooperating with getting the record, going 5-5 over their last 10 games. Just won third straight over Angels tonight.

They're now at 39-120.

41-121 gives them more losses than the '62 Mets, but they'll still have a better winning pct (Mets .250, White Sox .253)

So Sox need to get swept or do no better than 1-2 this weekend in Detroit for them to truly take the crown of worst team in modern era.

.-.
Sox are up on Tigers 9-4 in 7th. With a win they end up 41-121, a .253 winning pct. The '62 Mets were at .250.

I am disappointed.

Hope the tigers get crushed in the best of 3, what a lame finish.
