One of the issues is that high school basketball is popular all over Connecticut. High schools gyms are filled for basketball games. I've always found it impressive how good attendance is for all classes of CT high school basketball. I've been many places with great basketball but poor attendance. I think the popularity of high school basketball in the state really helped in finding a fan base for UConn basketball. Football isn't even played in some of the small towns in the state and yet those towns produce very entertaining high school basketball games.
