I know this is a stretch, but seeing this group of guys starting to gain chemistry has me inspired. KO has this team playing really hard right now. Two things that really stood out to me when I was watching the 99 team was the offensive aggressiveness from the backcourt and wings and the huge defensive heart (best exemplified by Ricky Moore). I believe that next year's team has a chance to be very special. Like the 99 team, we will have confident, aggressive guard play and improving front court play. We will have more bodies to cycle in and out too. Most importantly, we will have lots of invaluable experience, Bazz/Olander/Giff/Wolf will be seniors, DD/Boat will be juniors. Only thing different is that next year's team will have a chip on their shoulder and redemption to deliver because of the tourney ban this year. Maybe bazz can even put on 30 to look like Khalid's frame.

The 98 and 03 teams made the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 respectively. For next years team to be considered a contender I think we need to show that we would be capable of getting to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament this year. I think 12 BE wins would be a good benchmark because that would probably mean we would have gotten around a #4 seed.

What did the 2009-2010 team do?

Are you trying to be funny or an ass. Hopefully the former. The OP's premise was that we have a good core of players for next year. If we do indeed have a core that could challenge next year, then that same core needs to show us something this year. The 2011 team was an outlier. Their achievements were totally unexpected.
