When did we get so desperate for skill position players? We need skill position players with an exclamation point sounds like trouble.

Or do they literally just need someone to ring the bell.

Go watch Rudy again ;)

I still can't believe that's Vince Vaughn.

Yes, we've never had a kid walk on and make the team, or play, or start, or actually have a long career after, in the league.

back in the day, I had a friend whose father worked for the Patriots. They had an annual open tryout that drew lots of players, small college guys, local semi-pro guys and all sorts of weekend warrior types. I remember him saying that by far the position that people who showed up wanted to play was 1. wide receiver; and 2. defensive back. they found the occasional lineman at these things (I think that's how Marv Hubbard became a Raider through one of these open tryouts), they never found a wide receiver or a defensive back. I suspect this will be similar.

That really is hard to believe.

Back to the topic at hand, doesn't it seem a little odd to recruit walk-ons after the season has begun? Or do they have to wait until school is in session to do it? I admit I didn't pay much attention to this in the past.

Marv Hubbard was a Hartford Knight, so he did have a track record.

I still have four years of eligibility left and I am weighing in at a respectable 205lb. But if you think that I'm dumb enough to have the ball in my possession when Yawin's comin'.....I'm not dumb enough to have the ball when Yawin's comin'...

Someone needs to get that on t-shirts for this year...

i saw him play @ dillon stadium. lol

My dad took me to a few games, too. I mostly remember him bitching about how much it cost to park. The more things change...

Well walk-ons from last year with eligibility left will be on the team again, if they choose to do so. Don't know if they ever have try-outs in the spring, perhaps not. Anyway, I would think the new walk-ons joining the team most likely will play the part of the scout team, mimicking the playbooks of each week's opponents...
