I like his comment that it's giving hope and caring. It's incumbent on all of us to care and keep thinking about that and showing outwardly we will work towards what we believe.

Smoking, sexual tolerance, drunk driving are examples of recent major cultural shifts in our country. To me this proves that change is both possible and I think inevitable.

I guess, except that automatic weapons weren't used by the killer in SH, and are not, to my knowledge, available to the public in the US, but other than that central point, he was spot on. For what it is worth, Boeheim, as much as I don't like the guy, made a more effective point. Capacity, the ability to keep shooting without reloading, is one of the principal issues that needs to be discussed.
