Yann Hufnagel, he's been a pretty big name as far a as a recruiter, helped put together the Harvard teams that won the Ivy, landed some pretty nice pieces at Vanderbilt during his short time there, and was seen as a pretty big coup for Cuonzo Martin when he got the Cal job and they soon got Rabb and Brown. To get fired on the eve of the tourney is pretty big, probably a distraction for them.

Hufnagel has been credited with helping develop former Crimson standout Jeremy Lin, now with the Charlotte Hornets. In its 2012-13 College Basketball Preview, CBS Sports named Hufnagel one of its nine “Dream Team” assistant coaches... what in the world is a dream team assistant coach? Can he actually coach or was he just a relentless recruiter?

I always thought that 'Hufnagel' was a fake name they gave to characters on television shows.

Uh oh...

The head coach of UC Berkeley’s men’s basketball team acknowledged he knew that a female reporter was having a problem with his assistant coach two months before the athletic department alerted university officials to the possibility the woman was being sexually harassed, emails obtained by The Chronicle show.

The emails raise questions about how much head coach Cuonzo Martin knew about the woman’s allegations before July, when the university received a complaint that assistant coach Yann Hufnagel had harassed the reporter in 2014 and 2015. Hufnagel was fired Monday after a seven-month investigation by the campus Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination found that he violated harassment policies.

Hufnagel sounds like a POS. Not even trying to be slick , he demands sex for access ,and doesn't think he'll get in hot water for that?

that was the mindboggling part of it to me, dude admitted to all of that and then acts like he didn't think it would be a big deal or that it fell under harrassment. I also find it a bit funny how alot of these cbb writers are being hush hush over this story because they were fanboys of his, they were always giving him his props on twitter whenever Cal/Vandy/Harvard landed nice recruits.

haha, this is so strange to me. When I went to kindergarten in southern CT, on day 1 of school there was a kid in the class named Yanni Hufnagel, he never showed up. For the first number of days they'd call out Yanni Hufnagel and he was never there but I got a laugh out of the name from day 1. Well I started to make a bit of this to my family, and we all agreed it sounded like a fake name which is why the story wasn't forgotten over decades. The story stuck around in the family until I saw his name listed as that star Harvard recruiter, and after doing some digging to find that he's roughly the same age as I am I concluded it has to be the same guy.

I even followed him on the twitters and reached out to see if he'd respond that he did used to live in Southern CT when he was very young, but he never responded and I can't blame him.

But... I bet if I was a hot young co-ed showing off the assets in my avatar, he would have responded...

Didn't go to kindergarten with him, but remembered the Hufnagel name from growing up. How many Yanni Hufnagels could there possibly be? After doing some quick googling, yup, its the same guy. My brother was friendly with his younger brother.

Let's be frank ...

There is no way what Hufnagel did - kept her from vital Cal basketball information - led to her losing her job. That Manufactured BS. She had several other assistants ... and I be a decent SID to use. That just is not the nature of covering college hoop. Hufnagel right there ... admitted to a series of inappropriate incidents. Given 4 other things going on ... Cal couldn't let this one have any traction.

So what's he deal? Is he available? I mean, he's apparently crack recruiter who can develop kids. This cant be as an egregious of a situation as Clyde trying to get a professional hummer.

I don't think this is the kind of guy we want to bring on board. If you're of the persuasion that we need a recruiting specialist on staff, there are plenty without a history of sexual harassment.

Still dont understand why Clyde got thrown into oblivion. Shouldve been disciplined and that shouldve been the end of it.
