This is actually quite good news. It offers schools like USF and Cincy (hopefully not UConn) a backup plan in case of Armageddon.

Why bother if you are the MWC. If there are any CUSA teams you want, just take them. The WAC/MWC merger would have made a ton more sense, but they let that ship sail. The WAC was at the end of a TV contract while the MWC is locked into a craptastic MTN deal that pays each school the equivalent a free ice cream at friendly's every year (if they buy a full priced meal), and is locked in for the next 6 years.
