The 6th biweekly edition of the Boneyard Top 25 poll is approaching. Ballots are due to me, via private message, by 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 13. (If you don't know how to send a PM, let me know in this thread and I will PM you first.) Ballots should reflect all games played through Sunday, Jan. 12.

A few rules:
  • Full ballots (of 25 teams) are encouraged; short ballots (of at least 10 teams) are accepted.
  • No ties are allowed on a ballot. Each team on the ballot must have a unique ranking.
  • Early ballots (before all poll-relevant games have been played) are accepted only if the voter provides "contingency ballots" or clear instructions regarding any potentially ballot-impacting outcomes.

I accidentally started doing my poll today, and then realized that it wasn't Monday. I'll echo that it's going to be rough, but hopefully some teams step up this weekend. If Indiana goes and loses, I'm just going to be flat out of luck.

This might be the most difficult one yet.

Yeah, I’m not even sure I’ll look at my last ballot as a starting point, and I hope Sunday isn’t as wacky as Thursday was.

Crazy. I think there are 30 teams that could win the national championship. Tennessee is big and strong, and not playing like a thoroughly demoralized team anymore. Indeed, it's Maryland that has gobs of talent, but which is playing like a HW team- grossly underperforming, and looking disgruntled.

Oregon just lost again. Insane.

The Sweet Sixteen could look like Upset City. FGCU, Princeton, and Missouri State could make the Elite Eight. If Princeton beats Penn today, it will mean that they cruise to a one-loss season. And Kentucky goes as far as Rhyne Howard takes them.

Texas could decide they'd like to start winning and upset a lot of good teams.

Louisville could decide the same, and, saying "go fish" to Walz, just go for it and upset a lot of people.

And North Carolina beat NC State? Who?

It's almost like the old expression: "Pick 'em!" Meaning, "who knows?"

Gonzaga is another that will hit the post-season likely without any more losses. They could surprise as well, coming out of nowhere, the Pacific Northwest....seems as though a lot of teams are coming out of the fog up there!

More casualties in the upper half of the rankings: #2 Oregon State loses to Arizona State, and #13 Indiana just lost in 2OT to Iowa.

Two potentially poll-relevant games still to be completed:
  • Northwestern (top team in the "receiving votes" category) vs. Purdue just now underway.
  • Stanford at Cal will begin at 8 ET.

For this next poll, it may be better to work from #25 down to #1.

Northwestern just hangs on to beat Purdue by 5. They gave Purdue every chance there down the stretch, and a game-tying 3 by Purdue just missed.

Stanford leads Cal by 7 at the half.

And with Stanford's victory at Cal, that's a wrap on this week's games.

In the past fortnight, 8 of the top 14 teams lost to a lower-ranked or unranked opponent -- and two of them lost two such games.

I'm awaiting clarification from one voter regarding a faulty ballot, but I can say that the race between #1 and #2 is VERY close.
