The special "pre–conference tournament" edition of the Boneyard Top 25 poll is approaching.

If this seems like a quick turnaround, that's because it is. The people have voted to move poll #10 up a week before the crush of conference tournament play begins in earnest next week.

Ballots are due to me, via private message, by 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, Mar. 2. (If you don't know how to send a PM, let me know in this thread and I will PM you first.) Ballots should reflect all games played through Sunday, Mar. 1.

A few rules:
  • Early ballots (before all poll-relevant games have been decided) are accepted if accompanied by contingency instructions in the event of any potentially ballot-impacting upsets.
  • Full ballots (of 25 teams) are encouraged; short ballots (of at least 10 teams) are accepted.
  • No ties are allowed on a ballot. Each team on the ballot must have a unique ranking.
  • Please double-check your ballot. Common mistakes include listing the same team twice, misnumbering, and omitting or inadvertently adding the "St".
As an aid to voters, the results for BY25 teams since the last poll of Feb. 24 are shown below, along with the games still to be played this weekend. (If you see any mistakes, please let me know and I will correct.)

The last-minute Sunday thrashings of so many teams ranked in the 10-25 range has once again given me a headache trying to sort through for this week's BY poll. Five ranked teams go down today, and a sixth (DePaul) seems probable barring a miraculous fourth quarter turnaround.

Updating the results table. The only relevant game not yet completed is Maryland, who is up by 44 in the 4th quarter over Minnesota.

In just one week, there were 14 losses by our BY25 balloted teams against unranked or lower-ranked teams.

It's easy group all the SEC teams with 5-7 losses together and drop them around the 20 spot.

I think that the only rankings that make sense are 1-3: South Carolina, Oregon, and Baylor.

Then there's Connecticut.

Then a very strong and surging Maryland.

Past that group, anyone can beat anyone. And they are.

Princeton will be a "must watch" for the tournament.
Northwestern, with Connecticut native Abbie Wolf at post, will prove whether they're just a very good Big 10 team, or whether they can take on strong teams from other conferences.
Gonzaga, minus their star guard, is a big question mark.
Louisville consistent? We'll wait for the ACC tournament.

But otherwise, the entire group is a coin toss. I give up!!
