While the poll may have been delayed in it's delivery by an errant owl failing to figure out which chimney they were supposed to deliver the pollsters votes to, have no fear, the results for the third poll of the season are here! While the top two have been unchanged, we have a slight surprise at #3, as a Grace Berger-less Indiana has snuck past a depleted UConn squad for third in this edition of the Boneyard rankings. This oracle's crystal ball indicates that there's more to come on how both teams will look at full strength with much more basketball yet to be played while both teams are hopefully healthy. Beyond that, the esteemed 19 voters that participated rewarded an unbeaten Michigan for their wins over Baylor, South Florida, Miami, and Northwestern with a 12 place jump all the way to 12th in the poll from a lowly ranking of #24 previously. Without further ado, it's your Boneyard Top 25! You'll see that @triaddukefan has quietly been bribing people to vote for Duke as they've snuck their way into the Top 25 of the poll for the first time this season. Arkansas went from having a single lonely fan putting them on their poll last time out to snapping at Duke's heels by just a mere six ranking points. As we have many more games to come over the next few weeks, we encourage you to keep watching as we all try to sort out the multitude of chaos that exists as each team finds a way to snatch victories in the face of long odds. For example by an admittedly arbitrary and highly illogical methodology, one could claim that St. John's is currently the best team in the Big East using the following highly frowned upon transitive victory chain: St. John's > Creighton > Nebraska > Maryland > Notre Dame > UConn. As stewards of the poll, we would certainly never endorse a particular methodology; however, @undersized could be heard muttering in the background that we should all strive to develop more sophisticated methodologies such as more accurate dart tossing to formulate our highly technical rankings. @Lorcan could be heard claiming that as long as the voters are enjoying whichever methodology they have divined from the stars, we shall all be merry and enjoy everyone's continued thoughts on the state of affairs in basketball this season. The next poll will be collected on Monday, December 19th by 11am EST. We look forward to everyone's thoughts before the holiday season gets too crazy for us all.
