By far the best 2nd round game in the Tourney..

This game is by far the 2nd round game in the tourney. Iows St. has troubles defending the post and defending smaller quicker guards where Uconn has trouble defending the three. This game comes down to rebounds and 2nd chance shots. If Uconn can grab the long rebounds and clean up any missed drives to the basket by our guards, we will win. I think Iowa state may underestimate Drummond's lateral quickness. Drummond can and will stop Royce White like he did Kevin Jones. So it is up to the guards to fight through screen and switch off effectively to contest the three point shot.

This game has "a classic" tourney game written all over it.

Not going to argue the point but I seriously hate calling these things second-round games. They've been first-round games for decades, and they still are, no matter what they're doing in Dayton tomorrow.

Ruslan, I am guessing he is using the thread title to get people to come yelling and screaming about "looking ahead". Thought he might catch people off guard. Yes, it is stupid to call these "2nd Round" games, even if that is what they, technically, are.

Yes, I too saw through the paper-thin ruse.

Jay Bilas was mocking the whole "first round/second round" thing yesterday, saying that he doesn't really use the suggested terminology since 60 teams get byes. The Dayton nonsense should still be called the "opening round", like it was when there was only a single play-in game.

No the thread title was not a ruse. Just using the correct terminology. If I had used Best first round game, then someone would have called me out and probably insulted my basketball knowledge. I just think this Thurday game is the best out of all the "first" round games because of both teams weaknesses and strengths.
