2025 Recruiting: Brice Dessert

IMO, there's way too much of this fear of being recruited over. The team simply needs one more big who can play the 5 and maybe some 4. And yes, Reibe can play some 4. If you're Reibe, Stewart, Reed or even Karaban, practice your ass off, play like a dog in games, try not to foul your way to the bench and try to outplay your teammates.

Also, as long as you've got more than one year of eligibility left, don't look at things as a one year window. Reed and Alex won't be around the following year. If you work hard and improve, an even bigger opportunity awaits. There's room for this type of player. Bring him on!

Interesting highlights. Not a great vertical leaper from what was shown; also doesn't look 6'11" either (a quick Google search shows him listed anywhere between 6'9" and 7'0"), but that could be because the other players are all relatively tall. Pretty decent footwork from a glance, but he may want to clean that up to avoid possible excessive traveling calls, depending on the ref. One thing I REALLY don't like-the overly long hanging on the rim on almost all the dunks shown; once in a while is OK, but it seems habitual with him (at least in this clip), which could potentially lead to unnecessary technicals.

Translated:

There's talk of two million-a-season offers from UConn and Texas Tech for Brice Dessert. But the Strasbourg center, who will only be able to play one season, isn't guaranteed to land in the NCAA.

Tom Moore specifically said yesterday they aren't pursuing any big-time NIL stuff any more with AK back now. So this is either wrong, or our interest was before AKs return.

Wonder if we were in contact while Reed was up in the air about returning.

I thought foreign players are not allowed to get NIL? Has that changed?

They are not allowed to earn active work compensation in America on a student F1 visa. They can earn passive (percentage of jersey sales, etc.) NIL and they can earn their compensation while in other countries that allow it, among other "hacks."
