Bria Misses Another Week of Practice

It's unfortunate that the injury is still nagging her. At least she's able to get rest while the season is just beginning rather than a month or two into it. Plus it allows Moriah & Brianna to get additional reps at running the team, which can't hurt. Best wishes Bria!

Speedy recovery Bria!!!!

Wonder how Moriah is doing btw?

Not the news anyone wanted for sure. I hope that a second week off will do the trick and she can totally heal first instead of rushing back and then having an issue she will have to nurse all year long.

Husky thanks for the link! This is an issue with Bria that she should have been more
open about and addressed much earlier! The staff need to be very conservative in having her
practicing and playing!

I thought she had taken the boot off days ago? This needs to be part of her
TRT PLAN,along with the anti infammatory drugs! We/Bria need to take as much time as needed! I hope
this is not an ongoing issue throughout the season! At the least I believe this may very well cont beyond next
week;( It is an opportunity for others to get more practice time with the starting 5! If Bria ends up fully recovering, this
may benefit the team in the long run!

I can't help, but think of next season with currently 9! Injuries in general scare me!! With the loss of CD and Kelly for the 2013
season, the #9 looms as a big concern.

Was she suffering this same injury while playing for the USA 3 on 3 team or is this something new?

She sustained it while playing for the USA 3 on 3 team and it just hasn't fully recovered since then unfortunately.

I'm not worried ... yet.

Heal quickly and completely, Bria!

That's exactly what I was thinking: I'm not concerned.......yet.

Also, as with any minor injury this has a silver lining for other players. MoJeff and Banks will be getting more reps and Caroline will get a bit more work in, too. All good things.

The fact that she wasn't even wearing the boot around the last few days but is still being held out another week tells me they're being smart and conservative with this ankle. Now is indeed the time when they can afford to rest her.

I'm with VaMike on the silver lining, but seriously, what was Bria and the staff doing for the rest of the summer when she came back from Greece? that was well over a month ago, no? Were they completely clueless that something was wrong? Why was she not in a boot right after Greece? Why is this nagging over a month later?

I'm not concerned per se, but as much as some UCONN fans were critical of Griner when she injured herself skateboarding (or whatever she was doing), I'm surprised no one questioned the fact that Bria and the trainers did zero to "cure" the injury when she returned from Greece.

From what I can recall, Bria received immediate treatment when she got back on campus, including physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications and rest. She supposedly responded to the treatments and the issue seemed to have resolved itself when it made a reappearance a week or so later. It's in one of the blogs/articles on the team-I'll see if I can find it.

Oh. Well then that makes sense. Honestly I don't recall which is why I as asking the question. I know the staff and Bria would never purposely do something negligent in taking care of an injury...

Oh I know. I just could have sworn that I saw the explanation somewhere about Bria's injury, though at the moment, I can't find it. I swear I didn't make it up;)

I'm all in favor of them being ultra-careful with Bria. Each for their own reasons, there's certain question marks about CD, Brianna and Mo. If Bria sits out another 6-8 weeks, that's plenty of time for the other guards to get good long looks, without any negative impact on the season overall. I'm fine with getting a well-rested fully healthy Bria back at mid-season with six weeks to play into shape for the Baylor game.

Geno has always been cautious when it comes to injuries and I am glad he is doing so with Bria. It is a long season and we will need her when it begins. Bria is a tough kid, she worked out and played all summer. She is in great shape and knows the system. She will be fine and we will be chanting Bria, Bria, Bria before you know it!
