Coming to UConn as the reigning national high school player of the year is not as easy as it may seem.

Breanna Stewart learned that the hard way during her freshman season and when she saw the pressure starting to get to current freshman Katie Lou Samuelson, she decided it was time to act.

"When somebody is kind of getting in a little rut, you can tell," Stewart said. "They are not talking as much, being alone more than they were with the group. I was in that situation my freshman year. When I noticed that happening, I texted Lou and we talked about it and went out for dinner.

"Stewie's been a great help for me and I really appreciate how much she has helped me out," said Samuelson, who made her second start of the season but first when all of UConn's regular starters were available to play. "It keeps my confidence that she doesn't let me get down.

The big 3 don't get the credit they deserve, they have been so good the last 3 years that we take them for granted. Stewie has been so good this year that we will be comparing her to whom every comes along for years to come. What a great role model for Lou and all the other recruits. What more can I say than THANK YOU for all the hard work you girls have put in and the enjoyment I have had watching you play. THANK YOU, GO UCONN.

The Tradition continues at UCONN.........I cannot wait for March Madness to start in a few weeks.........Lou will be that much better than she is today.........LOOKOUT!!!

A lot of players talk about how they let their play on the court be their example of leadership. That is definitely true of Stewie, the article in this thread describes an example of real leadership!

I completely agree with your high praise for all that Stewie, Moriah and Morgan have done, nothing could be further from the truth than to say they "don't get the credit they deserve" and that UConn fans "take them for granted." While it is true that WCBB has not given Morgan her proper due in terms of individual accolades because of an unfair reluctance to honor 'too many' players from the same team, it cannt be denied that the greatest player of her generation and the finest point guard in the land have rightfully received all the credit they are justly due.

But you must know, Roundball, that absolutely nobody here on the Boneyard or anywhere in the passionate universe of UConn WBB fans takes these three fantastic young women for granted, not for a nanosecond. They are our beloved treasure, cherished and precious to all, and we are nuts about them.

We exhaust our supply of superlatives when describing Stewie's dedication (to team and sport), graciousness, humility, and supreme talent level.

There is one more. ;)

Once Stewie laces up her sneakers, she is the ultimate. . .

Badass!
