Oh.. I thought it was because babysheep didn't think we were good enough this year

Sources say that discontent among the Boneyard may have played a factor, but they will not speculate as to how much of a role they played in the final decision.

Way to tear down that strawman that you created. Brilliant work.

Paul Pendergast on the cancellation of the program: "After the amazing season we had in 2011, UConn could not be marred with the imperfect 11-1 record. After the loss to UCF, initial talks began and we eventually decided a month later to close the season. This move is a proactive approach to UConn's eventual basketball demise. With little support for a basketball facility and Gampel Pavilion continuing to deteriorate, the amount of money it would cost to maintain the basketball program outweighs the profit. In addition, we were unsure how to act upon the looming coaching vacancy. And last but not least, simply put--the fans are not showing up to games. There are too many empty seats and the student section is half full. UConn would like to be remembered as a powerhouse of college basketball and thus we intend to cancel the program while we're on top."
