I have heard though the grapevine that Tim Boyle was named second team quarterback earlier today.

Writing on the wall, this kid is going to play if Whitney doesn't play better than he did last week.

If he's ready to burn Boyle's redshirt then he is truly under immense pressure.

Agree and he still has Kivon Taylor sitting in the red-shirt wings if they do.

Either that or he is saying "I lost with a true freshman QB, what do you want from me I tried".

True, true but would like to see how they operate w/ Kevin Friend back.
Don't pin a lot of your hopes on Friend. I remember last year and he missed so many blocks it was ridiculous. Maybe it was the blocking scheme and the coach and I want to believe otherwise but..............

Or Boyle is legitimately better than our other options. Do you think it makes sense to redshirt him even if he's already the best QB on the team and gives us the best chance to win?

Yes, this season is going to be a lost cause anyways.

Give me a 5th year senior at QB all day as opposed to burning a year behind a bad offensive line.

Follow college football much? This is a classic act of desperation. Lots of teams have their second best QB with a redshirt on. If this is true, Pasqualoni is just exhausting his reserve.

Hate to see this kid lose a year behind this line.

I don't know. I think part of it is desperation. But I think a bigger part, given what I've seen the last 2 years......is that P just doesn't utilize redshirts very well. Add that to the pile.

I think both of these are accurate.. It's kinda sad for the players involved.. ESPECIALLY Cochran.. All the hype over that kid for 2 seasons faded (echo echo echo)... Boyle's already that much better than him to leapfrog him like that? After one summer? It's a desparation move... Troubling to me...

Still shilling for Pasqualoni eh? Old habits die hard I guess.
Why because i asked for something to back up the claim. Nonetheless if boyle is better than whitmer u start him period. Best team gets the field

Relax. I am sure your boy will get to coach out through the end of the season.

I think, right now, this team is like what comedian Tony Roberts called Lil Wayne's face.. a bunch of accidents... You can't tell me, the way they played last Thursday, that they had a crisp practices.. They still need a lot of work. We can only HOPE that this ship gets righten'ed SOON...Whoever can get it right (at QB, no matter who it is.. I have/had my favorites) needs to do so soon.

Am I over thinking this? What does our QB depth chart look like now? ie - is Whitmer still 1, or did he fall to 3?

Two reasons for this:

1) Boyle is better than Cochran and should be ahead of him on the depth chart. (obviously)

2) It sends a not so subtle message to Whitmer that more is expected, and now there is a legit challenger for the starting spot.

I hope there are more changes, including a new starter or two on defense.

Who says Boyle will start game 2? I said that he would start game 4 walking out of the stadium last week. Better than 50/50 I say.

When PP said Whitmer was struggling to see over the line the first thing I thought of was him wanting to get Boyle in there.

PP is beyond desperate.

this.. like i said before, one of the three frosh had to be at least as good as Whitmer to be worth the hype.. plus QB change good way to get everybody excited..this might not matter though if the O-line doesnt get its togeter
