I figured this might be the best place to get good info as I've seen the video here of the Alabama lineman doing it. What's a good number for a hs kid (current junior)?

I'm not sure what you mean by number but I'd start with 74.

Damn. Kid is 5'9" and with that jump he gets just an inch short of 12' vertical.
 
Any average box jump fan can get 80" if you give them a full season to try it.

It’s very physically impressive, but that’s not how that works. A decent portion of that 74 is hip flexibility and not actual vertical jump. His vertical is nowhere near 12’.

I think he meant 6', but right. When these guys jump, their butts are still below the top of the box when their feet land and pull them up. Somewhere between 2 and 3 feet though.

It’s not like anyone defends you when you try to do a box jump.
 
That’s a running jump, but it was cool. Wondering if 50” is a good 1-step jump.
Box Jumping..................a prerequisite for ..................? A Master's Degree in Box Jumping?
