The elite men go off at 9:37.
The elite women go off at 9:45.

Coverage is on USA today from 8:30 til 1:00. A variety of wheelchair and regular runners
start both earlier and later than the elite runners.

Weather: on the cool/cold side...that's good.
Wind: significant wind from the east...that's bad.

Men's winner to finish around 11:45 or so
Women's winner to finish around 12:10 or so

Fenway Park is around the 25 mile mark...annual home game at 11:00 to coincide with The Marathon...very cool.

I completed five marathons in my younger days. Alas, never came close to the qualifying time for Boston. Good luck to all the runners today.

Women's winner: Peres Jepchichir....2:21.01
Men's winner Evans Chebet...2:06.51

Spiffy times for both with a headwind at them...especially Peres.
Both from Kenya...zero surprise that Kenyans won both divisions.

I saw a note that there were 28,000 runners...many of them are still out on the course

I ran my first at the tender age of 47. My tenth 2.5 years ago. PR is 4:52. That may be my last one; we'll have to see if I can ever get an appointment with my knee doctor.

I've known two Boston qualifiers. One was busting her ass to get to the 3:45 qualifying time (probably 40-44 age group). The other came to work with me one summer, and the first day we were chatting and she saw my running bag and we started talking running. She asked me which I'd run (Marine Corps, Maine, and Harrisburg, PA). She had run Marine Corps, Richmond, and Boston. I asked whether she'd raised money or qualified for Boston. She said her PR was 3:07 (and I was impressed with my buddy breaking 3:45). Turns out she'd run track and cross-country at our alma mater.

Kenyans took nine of the top ten spots (all five men 4/5 women).
