Saw this too. Borges made a great point...even if Shabazz was working out for NBA scouts he would be very limited with the boot. I think he stays.

I thought back when the Texas deal was agreed to that it was 4 game series. Home and homes separated by a year off?

So let me get this straight. The 2K Classic is a tournament that if you lose you still advance to MSG? Why even have the first 2 games at home then? Just bring the 4 teams they want to MSG and have a 2 game tournament. The 2 winners face each other the 2nd night and the 2 losers face each other in a consolation game. What are those other 2 games at home for? So the "tournament" can skim some money off the 4 schools? Kind of strange.

Agreed. Embarrassing.

A lot of the preseason tournaments have been doing this since the aforementioned Gardner-Webb upset of UK.

It happened because of the Garnder Webb fiasco

Yes, I just read that in this article. My question is why play the first 2 games at all? Might as well just give the school the flexibility to schedule their own games.

Here is the thing I don't understand. UCONN and Texas signed this deal back in 2008. As part of the deal, they play at UCONN in 2013-2014, and at Texas the following year. It is a signed contract. Why would this potentially not happen now? UCONN needs these types of games.

I can understand the Washington thing to an extent because they may end up playing in MSG, but the Texas thing confuses me. Thoughts?

given what's going on at Texas they can probably find better games, TX will prob be terrible again next year

I wouldn't be surprised if on the West Coast swing to Washington... UConn also hooks up with Colorado some how some way. That could be in the works. Colorado already has Kansas coming to Coors Event Center next year. Maybe playing them somewhere other than Coors Event or even Coors Event? That I believe is being discussed and would be a great game to have. Colorado will be stacked if Roberson comes back and should finish top 3 in Pac 12 now that Crabbe/Pac12 POY declared from Cal today.

I remember we played Harvard at Battle for Atlantis and then again at home a week or two later in 2011. I don't see why playing Washington twice would be an issue. 2014 is a year where we need to solidify our brand name in a crappy league by maintaining our national presence.

And they actually had Gardner Webb twice in the same season. Once on the schedule and once after they beat UK.

In 2000 they would have had Arizona twice in a matter of a week and a half had they not crapped the bed against Dayton in Maui.
