I like the way things are shaping up. The clutter in the middle is gone and that great for dribble and dish. The key will be that DD and calhoun hit the open shots. I think our game will be perimeter in nature, but not where where we are relying on one guy. I also see that defensively we are going to put alot of pressure on folks. I'm ready to get this thing going

Seriously though, I think putting Ryan at PG full-time is a good move. It will be interesting to see how it plays out between him and Shabazz. This is solely my opinion, but by my observation Ryan seemed to be more of a natural leader, and it looked like it caused some tension when Shabazz tried to be and some of the guys didn't respond to him. If Ryan is the point guard, that means he's the extension of JC on the floor. Or, in JC's parlance, the field general. I think he's wired for that, but I will be curious to see how Shabazz responds to Ryan calling the shots. There's room for more than one player to demonstrate leadership, and players can do it in different ways, but I wonder if Shabazz's apparent desire to be the leader will bump up against Ryan's natural position as one.

I am going to take a wait and see attitude re: the Boat at PG plan. My memory of their play late in the year against zone defenses was that Bazz was the only one who was regularly able and willing to make the pass into the player flashing into the opening by the foul line. Neither Boat, nor Lamb, were able to make that pass or to effectively attack the zone. Bazz was not like Marcus Williams or AJ Price in attacking zone defense, but by far our best at it last year.

I agree with the wait and see approach on this pg move... But honestly next year is going to be rough and there is going to be time for experimentation. Everyone on the team will have the same goal, improve as much as possible throughout the year, and build the programs image so that when BIG time pieces are added through recruiting the 2013 class, the whole team is ready to push to the Final 4 in 2014, Calhoun's last hurrah.

I expect us to grab 2 top ten recruits in next years class, including one of the top centers.

I think JC agrees with you, that's why he is defining roles this early. Players get better with practice. I like the set-up, it reminds me of the dream season with Bazz in the Chris Smith role. The key is Omar, will he be able to drain jumpers like Johnny Gwynn? It would be nice to have a heralded HS shooter to step in and make shots for a change.
