If JC wanted a "coach in waiting", UConn would have a coach in waiting.

The problem with the coach in waiting thing is it locks you out of getting a potentially much better option when the time comes. Also, I don't understand how naming Ollie the coach in waiting helps with recruiting. Are there guys out there saying, I want to play for an Ollie led UConn team! I don't think so. And if that is the case, there's nothing stopping UConn from telling recruits, it's probably going to be Ollie, but we're keeping our options open in case a better scenario presents itself.

I just don't get the point of locking it in by announcing it (cause then you have to do it) when you can let kids know it's the most likely option without locking it in.

It could be because they don't have someone. Rumors KO may want to go to NBA or that maybe UConn isn't 100% sure on him.

If JC wanted a "coach in waiting", UConn would have a coach in waiting.
