Like I've said before Boat and Shabazz are gone after this season and getting an elite PG is a priority, more important than our front court issues. Give me Perkins, Robinson, Abu and then we can start to work on backups to give us more depth.
Unless boat wants to play in europe or the DLeague, he'll be here for 2 more years. I love his heart, but unless he has a HUGE jump, does not have the PG skills to survive in the NBA.

The idea of the "pure" point guard is overrated in the NBA.
I dont know, Billups in '04? But that's not what I mean. I'm not talking about a scoring guard, I'm saying that kids who play the wing or the 2 guard get converted to play point in the NBA all the time - look at what Orlando's doing with Oladipo.
It may be overrated and Colin Cowherd is a . But he had a good point on his show earlier this week.
The last team to win a championship with a high volume scoring PG is/was ______________?

UCONN with Kemba Walker. What do I win?
Which has yielded zero results. The NBA has a long and distinguished list of college and foreign players who have been forced in to the square peg / round hole with minimal results.
Wasn't the point that was being responded to that Boatright lacks the "point guard skills" to succeed in the NBA? The point is that "point guard skills" are overrated - or do you think that Mario Chalmers was the key to the Heat winning the last two? I just don't know how you can pay attention to the NBA and not realize that the days of Bob Cousy are long gone. I mean, Tony Parker averaged 20+ this season.
Hard to read.
"I'll take my (backcourt) against any backcourt," he said.
"It was fun, I played well," Boatright reported.
"Of course I'm gonna say me," Boatright said with a laugh.
Boatright said he's expecting more big things from Calhoun this season, and is looking forward to playing with Samuel, whom he hasn't met yet.
"He's gonna get a chance to learn from two very experienced guards, me and Shabazz, who are both ready for the NBA," Boatright said.
Boatright said he's already gained 10 pounds since March (up to 175 pounds) and that he'll be playing the point more often than Napier next season.
"In the NBA, I'm gonna be a point guard, I'm not gonna be a two," he said. "My natural position is point guard, but I'm able to score. I can score at any level."
Of all the the me me me bs quotes in that article the thing that really bothers me is that he hasn't met Samuel. Probably had 50 chances to meet him.
Got to take boats swag for better and worse but I agree. Hopefully KO can channel it.
Did you watch the draft this year? Lots of kids went early and didn't get drafted. Phil Pressey, Vander Blue etc. He's itching to go and we need a PG

Boat is who he is, a cocky ass bball player. I'm sure he meant no harm, its just that coming out of Chicago, perhaps with a size issue, his cockiness is his brand. I have no issues with that kind of talk if selfishness is not displayed on the court. Ollie knows how to handle that stuff anyway, so we can just focus on, and enjoy his immense talent and skills. As he matures and gains experience I think the high school senior Boat will emerge and blow peoples' mind.

Just hope he's not letting his visions of the NBA cloud his judgement on the court
