Wtf a search firm?
Pretty normal when dealing with multi million dollar contracts.

I really don't mind anyone on this list, I'm even warming up to Pitino. I'm leaning more and more to bringing Calhoun in for a few years to right the ship, with a replacement named immediately and by his side the whole time.

No calhoun. He deserbes retirement, and recruiting will suck with him here.

No reason to tarnish his reputation if things go sour. Stick with st. Joes

Given what is going on with the scandal(s) across the NCAA coaching ranks, some very sensitive questions and background research is needed to look into candidates and I'm sure the employer (UConn) wouldn't want to be going into those woods alone (and with no legal safeties in place -i.e. the contract with Parker).

There are some similarities between Rhode Island and UConn: both teams don't have size and they can't shoot 3s.

However, Hurley makes it work with smart offensive play inside the arc and tenacious defense. I would love for UConn to return to its defensive prowess.

we should not go backwards with Calhoun. We need to go forward. And no way with Pitino. UConn is the last school that needs a coach to come in after getting fired after an FBI invesitgation

The problem is, who is that replacement and what is the evidence that it won't turn into Ollie 2.0? Tom Moore, Glen Miller, and Burrell are al nonstarters. Donyell might be of interest, but his coaching experience is limited.

Hurley is the obvious #1 choice, Crean and Pikiell are intriguing though flawed in different ways, Pitino is the ultimate no, Geno is not happening, Donovan would be very, very intriguing but it's a huge long shot plus they'd have to wait to hire him. Everyone else there aren't realistic.

We've hired a search firm. That sounds like we're willing to wait.

You dont fire ollie without having some back room discussions. A search firm is for appearances and to handle paperwork.

AD David Benedict knows who our coach will. We need to wait and see. Two weeks after the NCAA tourney with no new hire, we can talk. Then ill be worried

Wasn’t the Diaco hire based on a search firm recommendation?

The search firm only confirms they're willing to not hire someone on Monday morning. Donovan would require them to wait for the NBA season to end, and OKC to be eliminated. At the absolute earliest that's mid-April, which by then most legitimate collegiate candidates will have taken jobs, unless URI makes a huge run.
