Yesterday’s box score is probably a good indication of what we will see happen when this team goes up against teams with quality inside players. Our bigs don’t have the moves to score inside against players of equal size. There value will come from neutralizing point production in the paint. Rebounds, blocked shots, assists. Passes inside and then back out to an open player. Liv can be a valuable part of the teams success but after we are done with the BE, and thru The first or second round of the Tourney, what we saw her do yesterday will be very important. Not points. Everything else. Our points will come from the perimeter. With this roster at full strength, it will be Bombs Away.

Did you check the box score? UConn only lost the "points in paint" battle by 8 points (20-12), and the deficit in second-chance points was only 4 (12-8). Obviously those two stats overlap, so you can't add them together.

The point is the even against a "long" team like TN (the best rebounding team in the country coming in, supposedly), UConn played close to equal in offensive inside production. With more minutes from Dorka and a normal game from Caroline Ducharme, UConn might have been equal or better in both of these categories.

You proved my point. They didn’t out score them. They neutralized them.

We now have many offensive game plan options. Geno's can mix and match just about every top team. We don't need to drive but will still do that to draw fouls and keep the three point line open.

We can go big as necessary and produce points there if needed. We have a well built roster when healthy.

Our bigs have been getting double and triple teamed because we weren’t hitting our outside shots . You will now see that change when CD & Paige get back.

That and the fact that our bigs hold the ball entirely too long. You never see them get a pass, repass, reset and then get the ball in better position. The Louisville coach actually validated your point however when he said he packed the paint against us and gave up the 3s. Obvious reason was because we were not good outside shooters. That is no longer true.

I think that may change already with Azzi being a big part of the team now. It should improve further when Paige is back.

Against TN we played the bigs to a draw. Not bad. This also allowed for more open space for three point shooting. You don't have to be fully effective down low to be effective as long as the points show up elsewhere. That hasn't been happening with consistency, but the lights are now on all spaces of the court. We are quickly becoming a matchup nightmare. The women's field will fear the Huskies.
