Don't blame him, just thought it was interesting.

Scoop Jardine

On what JB told them

“Coach told us ‘You get out there and knock them out first and they’ll lay down’,’’ “But they didn’t. They didn’t lay down and we had to beat them.’’

It was an 'attack' message to his players.

Wonder what Blaney said to the team to get them to play better yesterday.

What does it say about this team that an opponent's strategy is "bloody them early and coast to the win". It's hard to imagine someone saying that about a JC-coached team (whether he's on the sidelines or not). We never used to be out-toughed, especially this late in the season. To our credit, like Scoop said, we didn't back down in that game at all until about the 4-minute mark.

But I sure hope the guys read that. If somebody said that about my team it would Piss. Me. Off.

he's just trying to motivate his team, but I hope our kids hear about this

I want them to fight back hard for the rest of the season, so this can't be said about them again

do you think he ever used that line when talking about UConn before?

Not for nothing, but he never says that if JC is on the bench.
The George Blaney UConn Huskies would likely "lay down".
The Jim Calhoun UConn Huskies would not.
True story. ;)

No big deal. However I do not think we laid down at all- pretty proud of the guys- they fought the whole game.

They didn't lay down against Georgetown?

There have certainly been JC teams where that is the case. 2009-10, 2006-07, 2000-01 come to mind.

How in the world did you get coast to the win out of You get out there and knock them out first and they’ll lay down’?

He was simply telling his players to come out firing on all cylinders and put them away early by breaking their will. I bet JC has said that very same message to his teams over the years when facing teams that are reeling at the time, like UConn has. To UConn's credit, they took a few punches, one mid-way through the first half and again at the end of the half, but each time got back up swinging. Unfortunately, 3 times a charm and the Orange staggered UConn at the 6:30 mark and the Huskies never recovered.

Let's hope they don't get knocked down as often, but if they do, get back up again and play their best during winning time, something that has alluded them of late.

The 2009-10 team says hello . . .

Seems pretty accurate to me. We have completely laid down far too often this year.

Boeheim was not that classy before or during the game. He was after.

I've been saying this during this current losing stretch, and especially after the Georgetown loss

I call BS.
