Guy at work, from the Syracuse area, is telling me that
Boeheim is going to be asked to retire by AD Daryl Gross.
Anyone hearing or seeing anything.

Darryl Gross: "Hey Jim, you need to resign"

Jim Boeheim: "Hey Darryl, go duck yourself"

No way Gross has the cajones or the clout to can Boeheim and why the heck would he?

Yes, but who can forget where they were the first time they saw this classic candid photo op?

Jim teams from the CAA, Horizon, and CUSA have been to a final four more recently then your school, what are your thoughts?

Jim you have only been to 5 Elite Eights in 37 years, time to pack your bags.

I'm sure you think those last two posts are clever insults, but they're just stupid. Boeheim has accomplished more in the long, intermediate and short terms than about 98% of basketball coaches. You can argue that he's not Jim Calhoun (he's not), but that's just not an insult. No one of his generation is Jim Calhoun.

Do you want a tissue, did I hurt your feelings? I am sorry if I did, but I am tired of your typical whinny posts.

Its called making fun of a rival's coach who by the way is a complete and has underachieved when it matters.

Why don't you take your soft over to the Cuse board.

Mod Jake on the Cuse board isn't confirming the specifics of all the latest buzz, but he is saying that its going to be a eventful offseason for the orange. I'd say that's noteworthy:

Ha. That's funny. Been busy focussing on work. I will say I have no information to clarify anything. Craziest time I ever recall up on the hill. TONS of flat out ridiculous rumors that people need to step back from, but I think there is truth to some things your hearing. I expect no post season changes to the roster.

The only thing I can offer as fact is that Hop's interest in USC is legit. The degree with which that is reciprocated is up to interpretation. His interest is not tied to any impending doom up on the hill.

This is not some grand scheme by Daryl Gross and no one is firing JAB.

Buckle up, it's is going to be a very, very interesting off season.

It wouldn't shock me if Boeheim was asked to leave. If you look at that program it has become a rolling train wreck over the past few years. It has underperformed in the post season pretty regularly. It has had academic and "social" isssues almost every year. Arguably they have underperformed this year during the regular season and will probably get bounced again. The Bernie Fine situation remains on people's minds and could well blow up again at any time. I think with the move to a new league, Gross might have decided its time to turn the page. Boeheim is retiring in a couple of years at most anyway. This is probably a logical time to make a move.

A month ago I wrote about this because I did hear this from a faculty member.
It has nothing to do with Fine or the basketball program. It has a lot to do with Cuse giving an academic overhaul to the program. This is just a rumor. But after Melo and Southerland, the academic advisement program needs to be replaced. The rumor was that Boeheim was not pleased over the changes and that he was given an ultimatum. I think Boeheim stays if he agrees to give up the reins on the academic side.

It would make more sense for Boeheim to be telling them "my way or the highway," and then quitting if they refuse his demands, than Gross telling him to retire. But that is knowledgeless speculation.

This makes sense that it's Boeheim's decision, but he's not the one looking for a change. They came to him and told him how things were going to be.

For all we know he may just be more interested in the USC job than Cuse. Honestly if I were in a position where I was considering those two places, I would MUCH rather coach at USC. I know that Cuse has more history, but lets face it, snowy upper state New York or a beautiful southern campus? Not to mention, while Cuse may be more successful historically, whose to say they will be anything after Jim B leaves. I'd rather start to build up a program like USC than to try and re-glorify a program that is quite honestly overrated/slowly deteriorating.

It's southern cal not South Carolina.

Also, recruiting in the LA area is easier. Also, syracuse is known to be cheap in paying coaches, I bet USC pays more or at least has potential to pay more. They also moved into a brand new area recently.

Good comeback.
If you are going to sweat the clown you might want to know what your talking about.

Of active coaches pitino, izzo, Donavan, calaparri, k, Williams, and self have accomplished more and been better when it matters then your buddy JB.

But keep pointlessly defending a guy who lobbied against our entry into the ACC, consistently underachievs in march, sweeps problems with the program under the rug, and had a pedophile on his staff.
