It's worked for over 100 years, weird that it still works.Somehow, Louisville's hookers, blow, a big player benefits bankroll, and SECish ethics appears to work ...
I'll gladly take the baggage of what looks like one of the two best teams in the country and the best player in the country. Outside of Saban and Meyer who exactly is better than Petrino? I can care less about his personality, the guy is an awesome coach. Our coach absolutely sucks.I think there are other coaches who play exciting football and you don't have to bring on the baggage Petrino brings.

When he was available I remember most of the board saying they didn't want him and UConn is too good to stoop down and take Petrino. It's this type of small-time idiotic thinking that has us stuck with Diaco.

Yeah, but he dresses like a metro-sexual hipster, so.......Win or lose, Diaco is not the coach for UCONN. His team is just uninspiring and boring. He coaches like he is 70 years old. I can't stand this vanilla offense and defense. No fanbase gonna be excited to see this week after week. On top of it, we are losing to a bad team.
Is that why the players like him?Yeah, but he dresses like a metro-sexual hipster, so..

Then I guess you are glad with being a bad football team in a bad conference, I'm not. I think we deserve way better.I'm glad UConn didn't hire Petrino and I hope they wouldn't ever hire Briles.
None of that has anything to do with replacing Diaco. There are plenty of good minds and program builders out there. You just have to find them.

Sure but I can put up with the sleaze if we are guaranteed to win and Petrino wins. It's no time to around, it feels like our athletic future is on the line and I have no doubt Petrino could have turned us into a top 25 team in 3 years. We have a whole bunch of things going for us in conference realignment except for ths most important metric, football success. Petrino is pretty much a guarantee to bring you football success. It's not a zero sum game of Petrino level ethics or suck. There are plenty of examples out there of coaches who win without being his level of sleaze.

I don't have one. The whole point of the thread is that Petrino was available and instead of going after the proven great coach with an exciting brand of football we went with the most vanilla least imaginative coach. . . . . . . . .I wasn't against Diaco when he's who we decided on but I've seen enough of his coaching to think he's not the guy. I always wanted Petrino and thought it was idiotic many here said they didn't want him. I want us to win football games and still think we could be a sleeping giant. Whaler and some others think the best we can hope for is to be like modern day Syracuse, Pitt and BC. I think this small time way of thinking is a problem. If Calhoun thought this way UConn would still be like UMass.Well, since Petrino isn't available, who's your magic elixir?

Agree there were other guys out there who are better than Diaco but Petrino was the best coach around. I guess my point is I could care less about whether or not someone is a pariah, I want the best coach available who will make us good. College football is a cesspool, if we don't want to roll around in the mud a little we should probably go back to D1-AA. We deserve so much better than the conference purgatory we find ourselves in.I'm with you on your 2+ year opinion of Diaco. Certainly 25 games is a big enough sample to get a feel for a coach.
I don't have the GAF quotient to look at every previous HC who was out of work or looking for work at the end of the 2013 season. I just know you can with without being Petrino.
He should be fined for those slacks....Yeah, but he dresses like a metro-sexual hipster, so..
My wife laughs at that. She agrees.Yeah, but he dresses like a metro-sexual hipster, so..
Petrol has all the loyalty of a snake! Please stop! When he was available I remember most of the board saying they didn't want him and UConn is too good to stoop down and take Petrino. It's this type of small-time idiotic thinking that has us stuck with Diaco.
Of course Petrino would leave after he made us really good. Edsall left after he made us decent, Diaco would as well. I just want a coach who makes us good.Petrol has all the loyalty of a snake! Please stop!
