It's been said a lot before, but the Miracle of Saint Anthony's is a good read. It certainly highlights what a bad ass coach Hurley (Senior) is, and in places it's almost cringe worthy. That's balanced by the fact that Bob Hurley Sr. could have left Saint Anthony's and coached at the college level. His life would've been dramatically easier and he would've been financially much better off. Instead, he stayed at the school, single-handedly, keeping it open because he knew the positive impact that was having on peoples lives. For those who don't know, coaching at Saint Anthony's wasn't his full-time job. It was a side gig that was his passion and led him to being a multi time national champion, and in the Naismith Hall of Fame. In our lives, we all have moments when we can choose the easy path or the path that has maximum impact on the lives around us. Coach Hurley chose the latter and, to me at least, that is his greatest legacy.
