up 3, causes the steal, opportunity to go up 5 off the pass from Bazz,, and instead of going for the wide open layup, he has to load up for the dunk and gets stripped. just lay the damn ball up man, that play completely shifted momentum. hopefully they pull it out in OT.

boatright is one engimatic player if ive seen one. guy does some really dumb things on the court, then follows it with brilliant play.

Ben Gordon was similarly frustrating (better overall, but had people killing him on this board) in the first half of his junior year. Boatright isn't Ben, but maybe he can figure it out. Not everyone is on the Kemba/Napier track of really figuring it out by the end of your sophomore campaign and carrying it through the next year.

That was a very bad play and I thought we might lose after it but he more then made up for it.

He either kept turning down wide open 3s or failing to jump stop in the paint for jumpers/floaters and kept getting denied at the rim. Credit to him for some big plays in OT and hitting his free throws but I really believe they would've won in regulation if he just played smarter, that failed fastbreak could have broke Memphis if he just went for the simple layup. That midrange shot is there for him all day if he just realizes that the area around the free throw line should be a stop sign.

He came up big…had a tough day on D, didn't get back on some transition for Memphis a few times……that double foot stop kept him from getting an easy 2….

But in the end he was huge in helping us win…HUGE in OT……great team W

Previously Boat had been blocked going for the lay up. So he changed up and went big. Made sense to me. Just a good play bu the defender.

BTW, we still maintained possesion after the block. So NOTHING was lost by going for the dunk.

Boat played a phenomenal game. Ya he's always good for a couple boneheaded one but this game wasn't replete with them. If I could have the choice of boat playing like that every game I'd take it.

Yes it was….we didn't score and they did. He had an easy lay up he needs to take it…….glad we can disagree after a W…...

Had we lost, that would have been the decisive play in the game. Fortunately we were able to pull out of it in time, with Bazz's huge and-1 in the final minute. Of course, Boat made some big plays in OT, but it never should have come to that -- we should have been able to close it out in regulation.

Boat was blocked previously by Goodwin, there was no way in hell Dixon was going to catch Boat if he glides in for the easy layup instead of stopping to gather his momentum and go up for the dunk. FOH @ nothing was lost, they didn't score after they retained possession, an easy 2 points was given away, a 5 point lead at that point in time of the game would've been huge.

KO has been putting the ball in Boat's hands more the last 2 games...he needs to keep working at it and think the game more than shifting into hyper/overdrive mode so much. I do think he is progressing, just not making the quantum leap we would hope for. A bad shoulder can't help.

Granted Boat makes some poor decision, but he also makes plays. In the Cinci game both be and Bazz made a bunch of bad decisions and Bazz is a senior and an AA candidate.

I hope he returns for his senior year to tighten up his game and becomes the next UConn Mr. Bigshot.

Still a lot games to be played and big shots to take. I just hope he and Bazz improve their D against the bigger and more athletic backcourts. Memphis got to the basket all day long.

Having Boat come back next year along with Samuel and Cassell Jr coming in should be fun.

Boat hit a huge 3 at one point, I think we were up 1 at the time was a key play in the game. He played great today.

In most cases, going strong like that is the proper move but Boat did slow down a little and gave Dixon the chance to,catch him. I think he didn't realize how close Dixon was to catching him. If he had, extending the ball out ahead of him in one hand and keeping it low (like Maya Moore often did) would have forced the foul and probably resulted in an and one. Boat made a few mistakes, some of which (like this one and when he lost control of his dribble in front of Pellom, wasting a critical timeout) tend to raise the fans' ire but he also made many great plays and was a difference maker today.

First time coming to the board since the game ended and I honestly thought with a title like "Boatright" it would be something like, "Man, what an awesome game that guy had!"

That was dumb on my part.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. I even gave credit to him for making great plays in OT in this thread, this thread was simply in response to that particular play, and was made as regulation ended. Not even sure how this is a controversial post, we even had a thread this week discussing how Boat being a two foot jumper and always loading up and trying to explode up to the rim allows defenders to recover, this particular play, which clearly swung momentum in Memphis's favor, was an example of that. But I guess pointing that out means he sucks, whatever...
