I doubt he would take out Shabazz, so maybe we will see a 3-guard set from the get-go?

It's Dick Vitale tho, so who knows.

@DickieV Spoke to Jim Calhoun & he is unhappy about their transition offense - look 4 him to jumpstart the O by starting explosive athlete Boatright.
i would love to see bazz get some pine time. he needs to stop playing with such carelessness and reckless abandon. while he is certainly not exclusively at fault, he is no different than the QB on a football team....the ball is in his hands more than anyone else's, and his decision making over this down stretch has contributed mightily to the team's struggles. i also didn't like him calling out his teammates after the SH game.

maybe some time on the bench will help in his maturity. we can't expect to get to the next level without him at his best

I like the idea of Boat at PG - Bazz at the 2G and JL at the 3G. It gives us more ball handlers and all three guards can shoot the rock and get in the paint. Gtown (PE-TOOWEY!) is not a huge team and with AD and ___________ (fill in the blank) in the paint we should be able to create some open looks.

Something has got to give- mixing it up at the PG spot might be the way to go. However Boat is a freshman- and he is going to make mistakes if he is running the team. Our MO of dribbling around and watching each other till the clock runs down is not going to get the job done.

yes, some semblance of organization on the offensive end would clearly be welcomed

I really don't see him losing the size for the 3 guard line up. I'm all for it but JC loves his size. I'm really not expecting there to be much of a change in the starting five.

Need to do something but our bench would be a little weaker. And where would the 'spark' come from?

Maybe trying Bazz off the bench for a couple of games is not a alien thought. Lets him rest/heal before the tourney.

Yesss. Bazz was a great spark last year. Problem is we haven't found anyone who can play the three

Vitale tweeted back to me and UConn Report that Napier, in fact, will ride the pine.

And rightfully so, he has been awful the last few weeks, mostly in his decision-making, body language and leadership. I don't want to make too much of it, but he reminds me of Dyson 2010 right now and Boatright is Kemba. Maybe him coming off the bench and being a scorer/sparkplus will work better.

Shabazz is a good kid. He'll handle this with class and use it to perform better.

agreed on all fronts....hopefully this lights a fire underneath Shabazz. I've been super critical of him, but fact his we need him right to have any chance of success this year and beyond.

Despite appearing to take the air out of the ball at all costs are we to believe the reason we've had virtually no transition offense is because of Shabazz? There's been no evidence that JC wants to run, if Shabazz was acting against his wishes Im sure we would have seen him greet him at half court with a bunch of F bombs at some point. Whatever the case, hopefully many of us are going to get our wish and get to watch this team run finally.Win or lose, its going to be a lot more fun to watch.
