Blu Ray "Can't read disc"

Looking for some technical assistance. I have a Blu Ray player, panasonic. I updated the firmware and some of my blu rays play no problem, but most now say "Can't read disc." Some were previously played without a problem, those same discs now "Can't be read." Is there anything I Can do, or is it time for a new player?
