A good showing at the Senior Bowl can vault Blidi to the 2nd round. He will be playing against the best of the best. Very happy for him.

Rosters are trickled out a few names at a time and rosters are adjusted up to the week before the game due to injuries, etc.

It's a greqt week in Mobile. Practices are open to the public and there's plenty of agents and coaches all week. All the coaches and agents leave before gameday. They're more interested in the ht/wt, measurables and how well they perform, learn, absorb and adapt to coaching during the week.

Blidi is a proto-type NFL CB.

Not the strongest tackler. He could really vault himself up draft boards with high reps at 225.

Bench reps for a cb are pretty meaningless.

Blidi, Williams and Gratz!

Three UConn players have accepted invitations to play in the Senior Bowl: defensive end Trevardo Williams, and cornerbacks Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Dwayne Gratz.

Williams was an All-Big East first-team selection after leading the league in sacks for the second straight year. Wreh-Wilson was named the team's MVP at its banquet. He and Gratz made the Big East second team.

They join Rutgers linebacker Khaseem Greene as the only confirmed Big East selections to the game so far. The Senior Bowl is set to be played Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

Updated roster with Uconn players listed. The roster will remain fluid right up to the week of practices and the game due to injuries and other factors.

A couple of interesting Senior Bowl facts.

http://www.seniorbowl.com/pdf/2012_NFLDraftRecap.pdf

The 2012 NFL Draft has come and gone but not before 82 former Senior Bowl players were selected over three days and seven rounds. That’s a number that includes eight first round draft picks and represents 32 percent of the 253 players drafted. Since 1999, the Senior Bowl has produced 152 first round selections and 1,212 draftees overall.

The Senior Bowl featured the first senior player at nine different positions (RB, OG, OT, OC, DT, OLB, FS, CB, K) and the first overall player at three different positions (OLB, FS, K). What makes the first round numbers so impressive is that more than half (19) of the first round draftees were underclassmen.

29 of the NFL’s 32 franchises selected at least one Senior Bowl player in this year’s draft, with the Cleveland Browns leading the league with six Senior Bowl selections.

And finally a link for the All-Time Senior Bowl team.

In other words, making it to this game and excelling here, is a big deal and correlates to highly succcessful NFL careers.

Bench reps for a cb are pretty meaningless.

Bench Reps are the reason that Robert McClain got drafted. While his other numbers were good, his 23 reps at 225 made him worth a gamble and helped him overcome his 5'9" stature.

Benching is a measure of strength. Blidi would increase his draft stock by putting up a high number as it would reassure teams about his strength and lessen their worries about his tackling.

In short, it's your comment that is meaningless.

If they were meaningless the NFL wouldn't include them !!!!

Yes, out of all his combine numbers, I am sure teams were just enamored with his 23 reps. Because bench reps are so important for a corner. Maybe, just maybe, teams were more impressed with his 4.4 40 and 38' vertical.

No number for any position is a show stopper, nor is it a draftable number.

The sole reason why the 225# bench press gets attention is that every stength/conditioning coach will tell you there isn't any way to fake repititions. It requires hours and hours in the weight room. And scouts will always take a chance on players who have shown the willingness to spend time in the weight room.

There are lots of 5'9" guys with 38 inch verticals and 4.4 times. That's not special for the little dudes. The 23 was eye-popping.

And my original post that Blidi would improve his draft status with high bench reps remains true.

Just admit you were wrong, that has to be easier than defending your silly position.

Don't underestimate the impact of the number of reps. The discipline required to work in the weight room is looked upon as a key element in the draft----for any position. It's a key indicator of willingness to put in the hours to improve and is distinguished from the elements of speed and vertical, which are considered more natural "God-given" traits---and especially so if you don't have "Deion Sanders speed".

We have the same stupid weight room arguments every year when the sr bowl and commbine come around. I want our kids to win every dam catagory. From bench presss to psncakes in 5 minutes. Lets focus our efforts on better things like the kidnapping of 2 sixty year olds and how to knock down the color barrier this state has.

Different football players have different things to prove to pro scouts and the combine provides an avenue to do it.

I think Ryan Griffin can have the biggest impact o his draft status by posting a good 40 time. His size and hands are already self-evident. He has flashed some speed in games. But if he runs a sub 5.0 40. That will move him up boards.
