I know things are tough right now. Actually, they've been tough, but now it's coming to a head.

NCAA wants our scalp. (even though, I won't get into it too much, double J, retroactive, all I need to say).

Media wants our scalp. (I know I need not regurgitate all the poorly informed and anti Uconn slanted articles).

But what we have is:

1. Decorated program. Best in Big East in last 25 years and best in country (in champs) last 13.

2. New practice facility, new President that has her together, new AD.

3 More importantly, these days, Calhoun seeing us through the transition.

It seems bad right now... The man has always tried to keep us down. Something tells me we will surprise them again... And again... And again...

Tough year but last year was THE TITS, we stole one. I'm going to keep enjoying that and wait for us to rise again and make every hater eat their .

Good times ahead

Maybe it's because we ended up coming out of it better than anyone could have imagined, but I still maintain that the program's outlook was worse after the 2009-2010 season. Because of that, I don't feel overly worried as long as Calhoun is still at the helm.

I don't know how many of you grew up in the hood (like me) and how many of you went to Uconn (unlike me)...

But reality is... We were sort of a laughing stock when my season tickets started in the 80s... And JC knows that, remembers it, and will not allow it to happen again....

He built it from zero, and brought it to hero. He will leave it as such.

That's the point of my post, believe in JC...

It's always turned out well when we do

My man, Jim Calhoun

Things are not downright scary.

Worst case scenario: next season we struggle to reach .500 (and may not get there) and our season ends with an early loss in the BET. This is followed with a season where we will have a deep and veteran backcourt, a few very useful senior forwards and likely a handful of quality recruits (who none of us know much if anything about yet).

Yes, the NCAA wants to publicly flog us. Yes, JC won't be around more than a few more years (I still believe he will last one year beyond his current contract). There are many quality candidates who would crawl to Storrs in the dead of winter for this job. Those running the show (new Pres, new AD) may well be the best pair of both that we've ever had. Contrary to popular opinion, once JC retires we won't immediately become DePaul.

This is really going to be an important decision for UConn obviously. But no matter, provided he has his health which he seems fine, JC will see this through and it will get back on line before he separates himself from the program, that much I trust in. Rocky couple of years if they decide against our guys? Hell yeah.....but this guy had baseball and soccer players on the court in his first couple years and they still battled and were fun to watch despite a lesser talent pool........I have no issues with watching, painfully at times I'm sure, the likes of Giffey, Bradley, TO, Wolf grow along with Deandre and the obvious guys who stay. Who stays and who goes will be the question but look at the results.........4 FF's, 3 NC's as of late, numerous Elite 8's and Sweet 16's along with an early NIT title......this was the Yankee Conferences Huskies 30 years ago and look what it's become.......maybe we all deserve to struggle a little and have a reality check, me included.......no matter I trust in the man who brought this success which was unheard of when I was watching the ECAC tourney years back.....amazing stuff and I can handle a couple of years of pain and maybe that will make the comeback even more fun rather than being spoiled???

They are aiming high. Make UConn culturally a powerhouse in every sport.

Worst case scnenario has little to do with our win/loss record next year. The worst case scenario to me is that high level recruits continue to overlook us and we then fill the vacated scholarships with marginal talent, ie jamal trice, darius smith-types, etc. We lose AO and lamb this year, AD next year, with possibly boat and bazz as well, and then we are left completely bare in 2014. Depending on JC's decision and some of the key players, a 1 year ban can cripple us for three to four seasons. That is the worst case scenario.

I think the school is well positioned for the future. We've had some setbacks recently and while the possible APR sanction leaves next year men's hoops a little murky. Even with Calhoun's future up in the air, I think the future looks bright. Herbst and Manuel know that a strong athletic program drove the entire university's development and it looks like they will not let that momentum die.

This isn't even close to the worst case scenario. The WCS is a mass exodus after our tournament ban has been confirmed.

so kids who are good friends, love UConn, want to play for Jim Calhoun, have aspirations of playing at the next level, are all going to participate in a "mass exodus" because of a 1 year tournament ban?

I think there is a much stronger bond that you suggest. I just don't see that happening, not at all. But disagreeing with you is nothing new.

Remember that wasn't a prediction, it was a true "worst case scenario". My brother knows a guy who was told as much. But if the "bond" was as strong as you say, this team would have played a lot better this year.
