I posted this in the Cuse game thread but it deserves it’s own thread.

Blanca's combined stats for the first two NCAAT games: 40 min, 33pts on 13 of 20 shooting, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, 4 blocks.

Holy Moly!! Regardless of the quality of the competition, that is phenomenal. And she is a freshman who has already dealt with a couple of injuries.

She is one of our 5 best players and if we are playing against the other 4 to 6 teams that will offer us some competition, she might not start but will play starter minutes. Geno does like to bring her in at about 5 minutes and to spearhead our full-court press. She is so long and quick and usually gets some steals and some easy layups. She is also a good 3 ball shooter, and she attacks the rim very aggressively for some easy shots. The good thing about our bench this year is that we can substitute with our 9-man rotation, and we don't usually lose much, and sometimes our bench changes the game for the better.

Playing like the best freshman in the NCAAT. (Obligatory “We’re Doomed.”)

The BPM is pretty wild. No one else is even close. But then again, she was involved in two extensive blowouts playing next to the POY and an All American.
Maximizing the team’s rotations (“plug and play” “basketball players” Top 8/9) and maximizing players’ potential (especially “stars” as Hoophuskee puts it) as Shea attests has a lot to do with UConn players’ superb BPM &1 (4 of the Top 15 in NCAAT).

&1 BPM is just Per 100 possessions Points Above (for OBPM) and Below (for DBPM) League Average, allocated to players via boxscore stats.

.-.
If you change the class on that chart to "all players," you get this:

For the top 25 players in the tournament ranked by BPM, UConn and South Carolina have 4, Texas 3, and UCLA has 1 player. Expanding the list out to the top 50 players, Texas has 6, South Carolina has 5, and UCLA and UConn both have 4 on the leader board. That's some impressive balance by Texas and South Carolina.

And Kayleigh gets on the list!!!

You know things are going well when Sarah is our fourth best player in the tournament (at least by BPM)! 😂
