What a disaster.

A coach of his caliber should not be manhandled by a mediocre TCU team. TCU is +900 to win the Big 12 and slated at O/U 6.5 wins.

UNC had all year to game plan and they gave up the most pts ever by a Belichick coached team. If you want to talk about how it takes time to build a program? Nope. Not with the portal. He’s had more than enough time to put a competitive roster together.

10m a year for 3 years? Good luck. At least they’ve found a way to keep that girlfriends mouth shut for now.

I’m no Belichick fan but the expectation for year 1 is not the playoff, it’s to go .500. I think that by the end of year 2 we will get an idea whether it worked. NC sold out their stadium and they are raking in tons of money off the hire already, but keep in mind that Tom Brady isn’t coming in for them.

Scarier is the fact that there is a handshake to pass the keys to his son. At this point if Beli has to scheme out getting his son a P4 coaching job it probably means he knows he can’t get it on his own. There has been nothing that I’ve seen (and he’s hard to look at), suggesting that he’s gotten any of his dad’s skills. Not a great debut.

The UNC qb was pretty terrible, small lefty peashooter with no feel for game. TCU may have been +900 but they have some talent in key areas. Their QB could really spin in, nice RB and a couple really nice targets.

The first series both offensively and defensively looked amazing, and then it was all downhill.

His son could probably get a job but not at P4 level. He would have to earn his way up.

As someone said on TV, if Belichick wants to win, his team has to outscore his girlfriend's age.

They were 6-6 before the bowl game with us last season. Why would the expectation of a 6 time Super Bowl Champ be to duplicate that?

Really uninspiring way of bringing your kid up through the ranks if you have to coat tail him every step of the way. Let him go earn it, not swoop in to save him and roll out his path for him. This has been part of Bill’s issue the last decade, his own ego has gotten in front of the foundation of what he built his early system on. From playing the role of cute and stubborn GM and drafting 4th rounders in the 1st to promoting his son because he could, last night is a reminder that he’s really lost his shine. Steve has this really uninspiring glazed over quality to him, along with his man bun and not looking like he’s ever hit a gym in his life. It’s like cmon man look the part a little bit.
Guy looks like he should be flipping burgers somewhere.

That defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed last night. Effectively got beat 48-7 from the middle of the first quarter after being up 7-0. Outgained 525 yards to 140 since that point. Total embarrassment.

I agree with your comments except for the son not looking the part - does every HC, asst etc look like they go to the gym everyday? If so Andy Reid better return his Planet Fitness card. 🙃

Lol - Andy Reid is part of the old guard and gets a free generational pass. Not really all that common of today's generation of young coaches to be a total slob on the sideline, case in point Sean McVeigh, LaFleur. Don't think they need their local Planet Fitness when they are within a short walk of a gym wherever they are. Even some of the older guys look great, like a Pete Carroll & Harbaugh. Our man Daboll lost a bunch of weight this offseason. Meanwhile Steve looks like he's out of an episode of Beavis & Butthead and sits on the couch eating McD's in his spare time. The kid has nepo baby written all over him. Is there one fat NFL HC these days outside of Reid?

Tell that to Tampa fans
Tend to think when you break it all down, Brady was much more of the unique human than Beli. The numbers certainly support that. Brady did walk into a great situation with a coach that took his traits and gave him the necessary structure, along with an amazing defense.

My feelings are that Brady had a much higher likelihood of being successful without Beli than the vice versa. Good chance without Brady, Beli has a pretty average coaching legacy. Brady was the catalyst, Beli was the right coach/system for what he needed at the time. Brady was a late bloomer, built in chip on his shoulder, massively competitive, natural leader and full driver of the culture there, where without him and winning, Beli becomes white noise pretty quickly. Brady was the example, ran that system like a full on the field CEO, while also throwing a beautifully accurate football.

I’m not a football guy, but it seems to me that it would be the sport where coaching has the biggest relative impact on success. That being said, the players do the winning and losing at the end of the day.

Belichick needs a Brady to win so he should recruit Tom Brady's son Jack, who is a QB in high school and is now 18 years old. 😀
