Big Ten Win% and Salary is probably not who you might think...

The BigTen clocks in at 3rd place with an average salary of $748K. The 14 Big Ten coaches have the highest average win total at 451 Wins per coach and the best winning percentage at .675! This is led by Nancy Fahey who had a long career at Washington (Mizzou) D3 school and by CVS with her 1041 wins. However Lisa Bluder, Joe McKeown and Brenda all have well over 500 wins to boost this average. Of curious note is of the 65 P5 Coaches, only 1 has had 5 jobs-Kim Barnes Arico (seems really young to have had 5 jobs). Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Big Ten analysis. We don’t really have many Big Ten posters other than @TerpWomenFan @KnightBridgeAZ so this conference seems to not get as much discussion as the other 4 do. To me, Tsipis and Versyp have to be on watch as their winning or lack there of is not cutting the mustard. Joe K's salary is an estimate.

The Big Ten has some very fine coaches.

It doesn't get a lot of discussion from me because I follow Arizona much more closely. We moved to Arizona in 2011.

I am a big CVS fan. She attended fan club meetings in the early years, she knew us by face as we attended many away games and my wife was a fan club officer (Viv isn't great on names). We became friendly with 2 long time friends of hers, one remains a Facebook friend and the other, who was elderly, gave us one of her souvenirs from Viv's Naismith HOF induction. We were among the table of fans who attended the WBB HOF induction (and post party, sitting with John Cheney).

That said, I see a few games every year on TV, read the Rutgers message board and that's most of it. I miss the direct connection we had from 15 years of season tix and numerous away games (there were a couple seasons we saw every game).

We are not as connected to Arizona in some ways only because my wife's health concerns have resulted in numerous games missed and we don't get the PAC12 Network. But I was at over 10 home games this year (we were at 4 of the WNIT games last year), have floor seats and there is huge coverage in the local papers. I am much more likely to discuss (and follow more closely) Arizona.

As I have continued my analysis of the P5 conferences, I am finding myself undergoing a bit of metamorphosis, mostly, I have never been a BigTen WCBB fan, I found their style from the late 80's, 90's and 2000's thuggish and not pleasant to watch. Even the Purdue title in '99 had me frustrated that Duke couldn't win it. That said, after having to work in Baltimore for the past year, going to MD Terp games, meeting our fine colleague @MilfordHusky and conversing quite a bit with our knowledgeable Texas savant @Plebe I have come to appreciate the BigTen. This analysis has reinforced what an up and coming bunch they might be. This group still has some programs is need of overhauls-Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin but for the rest, the future looks pretty good. It took quite awhile for Joe McKeown to get it going but NW kept the faith and this year it blossomed for Joe who has had quite the career at GW before this. Teri Moen at Indiana looks strong now. Lisa Bluder at Iowa did well after Megan with Doyle and just signed Clark so she seems to be running smoothly. Michigan seems to be steady while not spectacular. Brenda is Brenda and regardless of perceived turmoil, always lands back on her feet. Even McGuff had a nice year this year. Questions abound if Nancy Fahey given all her unbelievable success at D3 can replicate it at Illinois but they extended her contract and I think the foundation is there. I have concerns about Minnesota and if Lindsay is up to the task so that's interesting. Nebraska seems ok, and it's too soon to tell with Penn State. That leaves Rutgers who every year starts out like gangbusters and fades to strong NCAA contender to barely making the field. CVS is 72 and is still recruiting well and with MM's retirement, I do wonder if RU has a succession plan.
