Big East with a great idea

This is cynical of me, but I'm going to relate this topic to recruiting. Maybe this is FriarJ's point. This could be a recruiting advantage for the fake Big East schools. Trips to NYC. Relationships with NBA players and various individuals with NBA backgrounds. I like it. Like FriarJ says, other conferences should be doing something similar. This sounds like something Calipari thought of. Nice work fake Big East. I have one small concern. This plan involves travel and introductions to NBA people. It sounds like a potential problem for NCAA officials. I'm sure the fake Big East will do things properly, but they better be careful to cover their bases.

Maybe you understood, but my point with the usage of the word cynical is, instead of seeing this as a valuable learning opportunity for young kids I see it as a scheme to get more recruits...and better the conference. Maybe it's both. Win/Win for all parties.

You think a recruits family will see value in this? If so then it must be useful to the freshman.

i don't see why not. It's potential career prep. At least for nba level players. Parents love that stuff.

Then at a minimum it's good for the kids and also possibly done to help recruiting. See

I stopped reading mid first sentence when I read "elite level of BIG EAST basketball."
Oh no you are not going to be starting a conference level discussion?

It shows some out of the box thinking by the fake Big East. We could use more of that in the AAC.

Oh no you are not going to be starting a conference level discussion?

This is where someone needs to point out how private colleges can't compete and that UCF and Houston are investing heavily in hoops.

Oh no you are not going to be starting a conference level discussion?

Lets just keep it at the PC level. Will they have classes on watching the NCAA at home?

I kid, I kid... I think PC will make a deep move this year.

Oh no you are not going to be starting a conference level discussion?
see we signed another stud recruit today?

How is PC doing on the recruiting trail? I mean you are in the mighty BE right? You should have stud recruits lining up to play there..................

Your UConn, you have 4 NC's all recent. You have an ex player and NBA player as a coach who succeeded one of the best of all time. But spare me the conference nonsense.

I honestly don't think that the new Big East is that great of a conference. What have its teams done in the post season?

Nothing. That is why PC fits so well into the new Big East

So freshmen need to get together in NYC to learn how to be a good people and handle the media? Each school deals with all of these issues for their players 24/7 right now. How many of these players will ever sniff the NBA? Few to none. It's a great marketing and public relations ploy. Touche. So how bout this: We get Ray , Spike Lee and his rapper friends to do a media, movies and film career opportunities for our freshman.....in Vegas.

Would be kind of funny if this backfires and a handful of kids escape the school groups and sneak into a club one night and need to be reprimanded

I suspect you will see other conferences do something like this, or they should in my opinion. Freshman year is rough on normal students, never mind basketball players.

Sounds like a great program. Freshman get to meet current and ex-NBA players to get their advice, council, and support on both on-court and off-court life. They get to meet ex-NBA players who are in the media to understand the media and how to deal with all that comes with it. They get lots of great information and advice from basketball experts and greats. Sounds like an amazing program for the NBE teams.

We have this same program at UConn....we call it summer pick-up games! ;)

The UConn WBB staff got a secondary violation for ESPN to schedule a publicly available tour. How is that a violation and this not?

The new BE can't compare to the old one but it is a hell of a lot better basketball conference than the new AAC.

UConn > Georgetown
SMU > Villanova
Memphis > Marquette
Cincy > Xavier
Temple > Butler
Houston > Providence ... Kelvin Sampson schools Ed Cooley
Tulane = Creighton?

The BE bottom is better then AAC but not "a lot better"
