Ok, I guess I thought you meant more of people looking at them as a real contender, which I do not think anyone does.Well my friend, they are now #25 in this week’s AP Poll. This is insane for a team that has 9 losses overall and has fallen in 3 of their last 4 games. Not to mention, their signature wins are extremely weak. This is a classic case of B1G manipulation:
Wisconsin Signature wins:
vs. #23 Louisville (who is no longer ranked)
Wisconsin “Signature” wins due to B1G inflated rankings:
@ #12 Michigan State (who jumped off a cliff)
vs. #21 Minnesota (who died, and is 0-9 on the road)
WLosses (9 Total):
@ Marquette
@ Maryland
@ #7 Michigan
vs. #15 Ohio State
vs. Penn State
@ #12 Illinois
vs. #3 Michigan
vs. #11 Iowa
vs. #5 Illinois
For some odd reason, losing games to T-15 ranked opponents in the B1G is valuable this year.
Wisconsin will get a 6 or 7 seed and lose in round 1 or 2.
They are not ranked in the coaches poll, but the issue with it is the teams right behind them are equally unimpressive or lost twice last week: BYU 101, USC 88, Clemson 47, Florida 24, Tennessee 19, St. Bonaventure 16, Oregon 15, Missouri 13, Wichita State 11, Maryland 9, Toledo 8, Belmont 5, UConn 5, Winthrop 4, North Carolina 4, Louisville 2, UCLA 2, UC Santa Barbara 1, Drake 1.
I can't get upset about not ranking any of those teams over Wisconsin.
Oregon is ranked over them in the coaches poll and their Kenpom is in the 40s and their best wins are Colorado and Seton Hall.
