This might be the strangest start to a year in recent memory. Lots of Jeckle and Hyde performances by top teams. Lots of upsets.
It’s tough in your forties, the body isn’t as flexibleBad ankle roll for Ashworth, he can't put weight on his right ankle
Honestly don’t recall a lot of upsets of “top” teams which I’d consider top 20 or so. Most of the losses in that group have been to each other. Baylor gonna be blown out now for the second time, so maybe that qualifies but both gonna be to other top teams. This Creighton loss probably qualifies as one of the bigger upsets, maybe along with TAM losing to UCF.This might be the strangest start to a year in recent memory. If I were a Creighton fan I would be asking a LOT of questions.Just read the boxscore Kalkbrenner took one shot in 39 minutes?
They had his main defender fronting him all night, a secondary defender behind him so they couldn’t throw it over the top, and sometimes even were hovering a third defender nearby tooKalkbrenner didn't attempt a 2 point shot???
EDIT: I see he did take 8 free throws, so I guess they just denied and then hacked when he got it close
At this point it feels like Nova and DePaul should swap rankings, who would have expected that?Way too early KenPom rankings this morning:
This should probably be its own thread, but I think the same but here is what I’m getting at it’s Monteverde. EVERY single Frosh this year from Monteverde plays like an upperclassman. It’s not just that they’re talented they are all incredibly poisedRobert O. Wright III doesn't play like a freshman. Poised, confident and skilled.
That team was insane. In general they run that program like a college program. And they run real offense, too. I don't know if their coach Boyle would consider stepping up to college, but if a team could pick him off it would be smart. He's got a good thing going there, but they could probably 10x his salary. This should probably be its own thread, but I think the same but here is what I’m getting at it’s Monteverde. Think about it.
Cooper Flagg we know what he is. 17 years old and handling the most high profile spot of any player in any class with total poise.
Liam McNeeley is incredibly solid and poised.
Derrick Queen is the best and most stable player on Maryland
Asa Newell is leading the Georgia bulldogs in scoring and pretty much running that team.
And your take on Wright is spot on.
I’ve never seen anything like it. 5 players from one HS all so college ready at such a high level from day one. Incredible and a joy to watch.
Smart. Just the opposite of UConn's strategy versus PurdueThey had his main defender fronting him all night, a secondary defender behind him so they couldn’t throw it over the top, and sometimes even were hovering a third defender nearby too
Nebraska made the rest of Creighton beat them 4v3 or sometimes 4v2, and they weren’t able to
Way too early KenPom rankings this morning:

Butler (73)
Providence (77)
Seton Hall (105)

DePaul (117)
Not good Nova against blah opposition vs DePaul’s wins against softest Charmin opponents. Neptune Neptuning versus versus Holtmamn’s hype history in November, then season swoons? Other than against UConn, hopefully they both surprise for overall BE SOS.At this point it feels like Nova and DePaul should swap rankings, who would have expected that?
