One-year streaming deal for BIG EAST women’s basketball games for the 2020-21 season.

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has announced a one-year deal with leading sports streaming service, FloSports, to become the digital home of BIG EAST women’s basketball, bringing elite collegiate competition to a global audience. The agreement provides a platform for all women’s basketball games that stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) presented by SoFi. All conference tilts not designated for television are streamed on BEDN, accounting for upwards of 75 regular-season contests annually. FloSports will also carry BIG EAST original content such as “Fast Break”, the Conference’s weekly women's basketball features show.

That sucks, no one outside the Big East is going to pay what they want. Lot of folks have had billing issues with them.

Last year all the Big East games not carried by FS1 or FS2 were shown on YouTube (for free). This is, obviously, a huge downgrade from the viewer's perspective. FloSports is pretty much universally reviled by fans of all sports for their gouging prices and very spotty quality overall. It worked out to be cheaper when I compared the monthly costs last year. Being able to cancel without penalty (if you went month to month, not annual) worked out okay as well. Guessing I'm only of the lucky few???

We don't have the ability to sign up for things like ESPN+ and their associated channels or YouTube TV because of US / Canadian broadcasting regulations. WBB coverage on national television on our TSN channels (Cdn ESPN) is only starting to happen more consistently lately. The fact we're able to see NC State vs South Carolina last night and Louisville / DePaul tonight would have been unheard of a few years ago, even when Kia Nurse was at UConn.

It's frustrating, especially with the talent heading to some of these programs. We miss out on a fair bit unfortunately.

Yes, I watched many Big East games live on YouTube. I wonder if the live stream might've been disabled for viewing north of the border for @cancontent ? (Those location restrictions can be mystifying and frustrating.)

I also hear you on FloSports however it's sometimes my only resource to see D1 games without having to upgrade my cable service. It worked out to be cheaper when I compared the monthly costs last year. Being able to cancel without penalty (if you went month to month, not annual) worked out okay as well. I agree with you regarding the cost for cable. It's the same here. However, when I've done the math (including Cdn conversion ), I could get more than what I'm getting here for a better price annually. We don't have the option for Sling or YouTube TV. Maybe because I watch more sports than TV shows, if I had one of those services along with ESPN+, I'd be a very happy person.

TSN's NCAA coverage is consistent , however their focus has been more for the men's side. With players like Wiggins, Barret Jr, Murray, etc., TSN took advantage of their partnership with ESPN and broadcast a lot of their games when they played for their respective teams. Now the weekly ESPN NCAA games as part of their schedule. March Madness gets the same level of exposure on their 5 channels as they have agreements in place for them. Even in a country known for hockey, March Madness is a huge thing.

The coverage for the women's game is haphazard at best. You'd be lucky to catch one of the Sunday ESPN games during the season. When Kia Nurse was at UConn, TSN broadcast a lot of her games. I thought we would start to see more, but it wasn't the case. For example, the 2019 March Madness for women was streamed on TSN's version of ESPN+ primarily. The men's tourney was on most of TSN's channels even with several showing the same game live.

As you noted, I hope it's a trend that continues. Especially now with the number of Canadians playing for top programs in the NCAA. The Canadian Senior Women's National team is ranked 4th per FIBA and the next generation following them is looking awesome. It just would be nice to see these ladies get the recognition they deserve because they've worked hard to get where they are.

You seem to be the perfect candidate for a VPN. Being from Canada, you could load up the VPN...make it as if you're in the states and sign up for one of them live streaming services you mentioned, YouTube TV, FuboTV, Hulu TV live...if you want the SNY channel. Have you looked at a VPN...asking for a friend.

Being from Canada, you could load up the VPN...make it as if you're in the states and sign up for one of them live streaming services you mentioned, YouTube TV, FuboTV, Hulu TV live...if you want the SNY channel. Have you looked at a VPN...asking for a friend.

I have to view some sites on occasion. Tried once for one of those ESPN+ services but it wouldn't go through. I'm assuming it's because my CC is Cdn. Took it as a sign not to push my luck.
