The top seed and home court advantage between #1 Lynx and #2 Sparks is in play today as is the Liberty's #3 and the Sun's #4 seed position. Lynx play the Mystics and the Sparks play the Sun. NY plays Dallas.

IF the Sparks beat the Sun AND the Lynx lose to the Mystics, the seeds flip and LA has the home court versus the Lynx if they both reach the finals.

IF the Sun beat LA AND NY get beat by Dallas, the Sun regain the #3 seed.

The Lynx and the Liberty have their fates in their own hands... win to hold your position, lose and put your fate in someone else's hands. It's great that there is still something to play for on the last days of the season.

So if the Liberty and Sun both lose.... the Liberty is the higher seed? Ok.... it appears that would be the case... after I looked at the diagram. If Im the Liberty.... I might rather be the 4 seed than the 3.....

First round, single elimination match-ups are set for Wednesday, Sept 6:

#7 Dallas at #6 Washington 8 pm ESPN2 -- this one is a toss-up; I'll go with the home team.

#8 Seattle at #5 Phoenix 10 pm ESPN2 -- should be a good one but Seattle has no answer for Griner.

I agree about Griner. Phoenix could be a very tough out. If Seattle can get her in foul trouble ....

I'm trying to decide if I should go to the Mystics game and miss part of the Seattle game on the way home, or just watch both on TV.

As the #3, they get the weaker team in the second round. If they win, they get L.A., which is a challenge. But drawing Minnesota is no better. Match-ups, as usual, are key.
