Oklahoma now joins Big 12 foes Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and West Virginia in multi-million dollar stadium expansions/renovations. Texas is rumored to be planning to enclose its endzone and TCU basically rebuilt their stadium from scratch.

Holy over the Top Batman!
Yes Robin - Tulsa going into the American Conference must have gotten the Sooners really worried!

"This signature addition to OU’s iconic home field will face Lindsey Street as the facility further embraces the traditional Cherokee Gothic architectural motif exemplified in other structures across the University of Oklahoma campus."

Disturbing.

There is no question that UCONN will have to expand and renovate the Rent if we have hopes of ever playing in the B1G or ACC. I would love to have something floated out there, even if it was just a couple of simple "what if" sketches of what a potential Rentschler Field expansion could look like. Need to make sure that the point of Rentschler Field as being expansion-ready is hammered home out there.

What the heck this is Oklahoma. All they got is Annie Oakley and Davy Crocket! It's not like they can go to see a play on Broadway or the Met!
Football is the only game in town!

Do they have to rub into the face of Cherokees that they were forced to relocate to Oklahoma?

OU President David Boren says the project will be paid for with private funds, revenue bonds and other athletic funds and that no public funding will be used.
And here is where UConn is hurting with no major donors. The state owns the Rent and just seeing this fiasco with the Rock Cats, in which the state isn't even involved, should be enough to let people see that an expansion to the Rent will need to come somehow from mostly private funds. We are not in any position to expect a Rent upgrade right now. The state is so screwed economically, it would be suicide for any political player to do this when there isn't demand. (Yes I know that we need the expansion to help us in CR)

Not necessarily. UCONN is big business in CT. If UCONN has an opportunity to move up and can justify the expansion, the funds will come. UCONN athletics have put CT on the map in the past 25 years.

Maybe they'll wait until the season starts and we start winning again but just seeing a concept of a Rent expansion, or a couple designs with price estimates is like trying to get the scoop on what's really going on in North Korea.
