The Connecticut Way

We build from the ground up. We win when no one expects us to. And we elevate everything we touch into a championship operation.

We don't ask for a seat at your table. We bring you a new table, built with trophies, and set it in the nation's richest media market.

Here is our profile, built over 45 years in the modern era of collegiate athletics:

We are a Top 10 Championship Department. Period.
Since 1979,we have won 29 NCAA team national championships. That ties us for 10th most in the United States. We sit ahead of Michigan. Ahead of Ohio State. Ahead of every "traditional" powerhouse you could name. We did this without the engine of a power-conference football program. Imagine what happens when you provide it.

We are the Basketball Capital of the World.
We don't just play basketball. We define it. With 6 men's titles and 11 women's titles, we are the only school to achieve multiple national championships in both in the 21st century. We don't have a basketball program; we have a basketball empire. Adding UConn doesn't improve your conference's basketball standing. It ends the debate.

We are a Football Program with Championship DNA.
Our foundation is not a hope. It's a fact. We have played in a BCS Bowl. We have won at Notre Dame. We have gone toe-to-toe with Top 15 teams. And this year—with a 10-win season and a victory over the ACC Champion—we have proven that foundation is now a rising structure. Give us a conference home, and watch it become a fortress.

We are the Key to the Northeast and the Bridge to the Future.
We are the flagship university of New England and the most logical partner for New York.Adding us doesn't just give you a school; it gives you a region. It normalizes the Big 12 in the wealthiest corridor in America. And it strategically positions your conference as the only viable, national, peer-level destination for any other premier independent seeking a stable home in the coming era.

The Bottom Line:
This is not an expansion. It's an ascension.

You have the chance to add an entire athletic department that is already performing at a Top 10 national level. You get the most valuable basketball brand on the market. You get a football program ready to compete in your ecosystem. And you get the key to the country's #1 media market.

This is The Connecticut Way. We don't just join leagues. We elevate them.

The move is clear. The time is now.

I can think of 26 in total.

Men's basketball – 6
Women's basketball – 12
Field hockey – 5
Soccer - 3 (and one of those goes back to 1948)

What are the other 4?

According to Flugar the B12 door has been closed. So it may be ACC or bust. If the ACC is bust, we may have to start a league of our own (per Geno). I am becoming a believer that the immediate next step for us should be to find a G5 conference home for Football, negotiate a favorable exit package, and wait. Heck, both Tulane and JMU made the playoffs in their current G5 homes.

He didn’t really say that. He presumes that with the PE deal the door is closed, but no one knows if we were factored into it or not. All we know is Redbird wanted us in last time they spoke. Now they are doing a deal with Redbird, no details yet known.

.-.
Everything else aside, are we sure joining in on a PE deal is a good idea?

I also think that after two public flirtations between UConn and the Big 12 that went nowhere, any future discussions would be kept as quiet as possible.

Maybe nothing is happening, but maybe there is and we know until it's done.

ie notre dame? if i were ND i'd just suck it up and join BIG and i'd imagine alums would much rather see games against OSU and UM than TT and BYU

I agree 100%!

Not to mention they said 11 women's championships and said we already have the 10 win season. Was this written by AI?

The very last place ND wants to end up is the Big Ten. Every move that ND has made since 1990 was done to stay independent and out of the clutches of the Big Ten.

their "clutches" are worth ~$90 million per year in tv revenue and that would easily go over $100mill/team if ND joined. the BIG has won the last 2 CFPs, what's ND so scared of? having to compete?

They're afraid of no longer being "special." And a huge part of that is if you clearly can't compete with other schools over a multi-year period, you're not special.

Does anyone else think this reads like AI?

It’s not a good read because of the AI usage; I’m sorry. (But I do I agree that we belong in a P4).

I agree, the paragraph below with the multiple hyphens suggests that it may indeed be augmented with AI, but regardless, it is well though out. There's nothing wrong with using AI to help write, I use it from time to time.

same reason the P4 want guaranteed auto-bids. It's not about earning your spot anymore. They want the guaranteed spots worth millions because they're "more deserving" than the poors in the other conferences.

I’m sorry, but it’s not well thought out if it’s written entirely with AI. ChatGPT relies on a specific sentence structure that can be easily spotted.

Almost no one writes naturally like this:

“It’s not about a conference—it’s about a home. Give Connecticut a chance, because we’re here for the ride. We’re not just a team—we’re a statement.”

I wrote this as an example, but do you see the type of “mild statement —> dramatic adjective” structure? It’s not very good writing, unless it’s on a movie poster.

I don’t want to come across as rude, but this is a public forum to hold conversation about UConn sports. It would be less interesting if it was just comprised of just AI-written posts.

The only exception I can think of is if the OP ran their writing through the ChatGPT prompt in order to adjust the wording. In cases like that, future posters should maybe ensure that their writing voice isn’t totally lost in the process.

ND intensely dislikes and distrusts the Big Ten. It also gets around $72 million a year in TV money without having to join a conference. It doesn't need to join the Big Ten to make money. Why join something that you hate?

The dislike and distrust is built on history. Other people may not like it but ND detests the Big Ten and will not join.
