I'm fed up with the idea of funnelling in from the main gate and getting into all of the congestion going into the red lot. The traffic pattern, confirmed with Rent mgmt, will be the same as last year, thus getting to grey takes you past it and then back into grey after waiting in line with people paying cash for red.

So, the option is the east gate at Simmons Road. I'm coming up from Stratford. If I come up via Rt 2, took the exit at Main St. and then went Brewer to Forbes to Silver Lane, I could also avoid I-84 and the Roberts Street exit congestion.

Has anyone tried that? Does it make sense? Thanks.

Never had a problem. You just need to be in the left lane as you make the turn past the scoreboard.

How about using the Willow Street entrance? Is that any better than the main gate? I dont mind walking once I am parked, even if its a mile or so, to avoid sitting in idle lines.

What about RT-2 to the E. River Drive exit, take a right and go straight. Go past the Main Gate and take a right into the East Gate. Or,

Stay on I-91 to the Charter Oak Bridge, take the Silver Lane exit.

What you propose will work but you will hit lights and stop signs and probably a school bus or two. Not sure if that's a time saver.

Driving in from Milford:

Route 2 to Main Street
Follow Main Street past P&W/Willow Street entrance
Turn right onto Sisson (Krauszer's is on corner, across from Coca Cola distributor)
At end, turn left onto Mercer
Mercer intersects at Silver Lane at 84 entrance/exit
Turn right onto Silver, follow to Silver Lane entrances
We get there about 3 hours before game time and just have traffic light delays
Great way to avoid the Charter Oak nightmare

Your original premise isn't bad but Silver lane from Manchester can be slow as you're waiting to turn left into East gate. Since they want you to enter via the East gate for Grey parking, the Silver lane/Roberts Street exit off 84 East, go left at the light onto Silver Lane and then take a right to enter East gate. It is probably quicker than going around the horn amd coming in from Forbes. Avoiding the Charter Oak bridge fiasco by using the Putnam to get to Rt 2 then to 84 E is key.
