New England -- Rizzotti, Sales, Bascom, Lobo, Wolters + RitaW, Conlon, Lishness, Berube
Mid-Atlantic -- Bird, Hartley, Ashja, Dolson, Charles + Dixon, Pattyson, Stewart
South -- Hayes, Ralph, Moore, Greene, Jamelle + MoJeff, Swanier, Duran, McLaren, Banks
Midwest -- Renee, BTurner, Faris, Swin, Tamika W + MelT, Battle, Tuck, Schuie
West/Intl -- Taurasi, KML, Strother, Svet, JMoore + Hansmeyer, Charde, Crockett, Sauer

MidAtlantic = NY, NJ, eastern PA
Midwest = western PA, WVa, Great Lakes

Interesting groupings. Renee is from WVU, is she not?

New England- most used to playing together, starting five all have natural positions. Not as elite athletically since they're from the era of UConn's first three Final Four runs.
Mid-Atlantic- Best PG, monster frontcourt. May be needed, as perimeter shooting would be a weakness, Bird's 2002 3-point shooting notwithstanding.
South- Athletic and tough as nails. In a few years, MoJeff may fill in the glaring weakness of a lack of a PG. Height is going to be an issue, though.
Midwest- Likable team, great defensive team, but not in the running. Even with Renee.
West/Intl- This team's perimeter shooting will keep them in any game. Not much of a low post presence, however.

Honestly, I think I have to go New England. They have a true PG, great long-range shooters, and size up front.

I would pay any amount of money for tickets to these games, though.

Ranked

Mid Atlantic- everything covered and depth
New England - not as athletic but too big inside
West/Int - DT, KML and Svet would carry them a long ways, don't think they have the bigs to beat NE (close though)
South - very quick/fast athletic, but no height
Midwest - good team, but not the quickest, not the best shooters, not the biggest.

Nice idea vowel

Dang, I forgot Renee!
She would provide some much-needed PG skills to the Midwest team.

Now edited.

McLaren should be in the Mid Atlantic, too, along with Doty. Since Delaware, MD and DC and even VA are usually identified as Mid-Atlantic. Would have been a heck of a team if a certain Delaware kid had stayed in Storrs.

Geez Louise. It's MY question - can't I define the regions the way I want?

And for your information, Mid-Atlantic is defined as NY-NJ-PA by the US Census Bureau.

One would think you were new here, to ask such a question :)

But seriously, great concept, I love it.

By the way, I wasn't criticizing you. I thought you were possibly ignorant of the standard divisions. Yes, there are some fluctuations in divisions for the census balancing population and work load among divisions. Note how small the New England and Mid Atlantic are geographically. The census uses a South Atlantic not generally used elsewhere.

Your poll which labels each example of players with an etc. had me thinking of others available in each region. Doty for Mid Atlantic was the first to pop into my mind as unmentioned. Thinking about her I realized I didn't know where the Del Mar Peninsula and Chesapeake area went in your example and so I thought of Kaili who I missed on your listing. I was not picking on you or criticizing you.

The standard geographic region of NY, NJ, DE, PA, MD and yes even VA is recognized by other governmental departments, magazines including Mid Atlantic Lifestyle magazine, sociologists among others and identifies it in the manner of Wikipedia.

Even if I were wrong - not that there really could be wrong since clearly it was an adhoc regionalization on my part - must you nit pick every damn post, and then follow up with an explanation of why you're right?

That's what they said about two of the three teams that Diana led to NC's.
Touche'.

But on the other hand, they didn't have to play against Lobo, Walters, Charles, Jones, Stewart and Dolson. (in case you are counting that's 3 NPOYs, a WNT player, last years USABB POY, and next years best post in the nation)

I think I'd go
  1. Mid Atlantic
  2. New England
  3. Midwest
not sure about West-South

Please note I did not say you were ignorant. I said you you were ignorant about a specific thing as in not knowing a specific bit of information. Your editing makes it an insult which it was not.

I never said you were wrong about your structure, I explained why I thought what I did.

Look I apologized and stated simply what I didn't understand and why I didn't that is all. Sorry, I didn't recognize them as ad hoc regions. No need to get your undies in a twist.

Would have been a heck of a team if a certain Delaware kid had stayed in Storrs.

In reality, we'd probably be working on a 5-peat. I don't think that's an exaggeration.

Even though KJ did not finish out her UConn career, put her on the Midwest team and I will take them ;)

The Navy's Mid-Atlantic headquarters is in Virginia...

Bird, Hartley, Dolson, Charles, Stewart is as good a starting unit as any. That back line defensively would be a nightmare for anyone venturing into the lane.
