Best line up in basketball?

Includes Stewart... but not Solo?

SMDH. Or, very nice troll.

The numbers literally say the Huskies are better with Stewart and Mullins than with Ball and Mullins. That is what the chart is saying.

It's a list of the ten best 5-man lineups in college basketball. UConn is #1 in the country with that five man lineup.

Lol, that is exactly what it says. Thank you for the recap though.

(If they ever do a remake of galaxy quest, you should definitely go for the Sigourney Weaver role.)😉

Worst defender of the rotation players, and taking a bunch of shots that could be going to guys shooting >30% from 3. It makes sense to me.
The Athletic's CJ Moore has a nice piece where he listed teams that can win the National Championship and he included UConn despite their un-championship like analytics on offense, specifically because Solo Ball's stats this year fit so poorly in the algorithmic machine, but there's a high chance he will improve as the season moves on.

When all five guys in the starting lineup are clicking, it's beautiful basketball.

Nothing surprising here. I wonder if he was shooting even 35% from 3 if that would be enough to outweigh Stew's impact

Creighton was beautiful basketball.

Top glue guy, huh? Maybe the eye test isn't everything

The thing with Stew is that most here think he's gotta be a big scorer to be effective/useful. He has evolved this year into a guy who can give you 2 and 2 off the bench, but do a ton of little things to help us win. Shoring up the D has been essential in that regard. Once people stop the fantasy that he's an NBA player or a guy who will give you double figures, you'll realize he's very effective.

Just wanna point out this is over a 30 min sample size.

About half of that would have been in the Providence game.

I know the trendy thing here is to downplay Solo and hype Stewart but I’ve seen enough of both of them play to know who I want on the court way more.

I'll pretend I googled that reference and am amused at your wit.

Um... okay?

Maybe I'm not grasping something here.

Are these analytics even accurate?

And even so, they would be completely meaningless for a few reasons.

You simply can't play just five players in a game, so that's pretty stupid.

And if you're a team like UConn that has had some starters in and out of the lineup because of injury, the statistics are flawed. Maybe there were some games that the player would have put up some good plus-minus numbers if they were available or might have not put up such great ones if they were available. Also the overall chemistry and dynamics of a starting lineup is impacted when certain players are not available, where all their numbers might not be representative because they're not playing with their normal full starting lineup consisting of the team's most talented players.

You win or lose based on the bredth of your roster not on just your starting five. It makes a difference when you have a really good starting five, but having a solid bench is often the difference between winning six games in a row or going home early.

Again, maybe I'm wrong but this certainly seems like one of the dumbest things to spend any time on.

Why did you repeat what the chart is saying? Are you saying you disagree, or agree? The tweet wasn’t confusing but ur response is

The OP asked what about Solo Ball. If UConn had an efficient lineup which included Solo Ball it would have made the list.

It isn't rocket science. This isn't 2024-2025. UConn has often played better with Solo on the bench.

No doubt UConn is a better title contender with Ball's shooting from last year than what he has done this year. All us fans want to see him find his best role on this year's team and do better. And Hurley has a track record with Adama, Jackson, and several others of fine tuning their role mid-season and getting them ready for the tourney.

You're missing some pretty important context here. How many basketball players is UConn allowed to put on the court at a given time? That answer might help provide some insight on why this particular stat of a 5 man lineupbwas chosen

I'm putting zero stock in the rating of a lineup that has played all of 30 minutes this year. Anyone with a functioning brain is doing the same . . .
Once again, VA Tech is number two. Cred lost.
